    Hi Everyone!

I'm a 2018 bride too, we get married on 23rd June 2018. Our venue has been booked since October 2015 and now I can't believe our wedding is under a year away.

Since we booked the venue the weddings been on the back burner as we also bought our first home last year. However, full on with planning now. Photographer booked, hair/makeup booked, cake maker sorted (just need to decide how we want the cake) and wedding dress picked and deposit paid. I'm in the process of handing save the dates out and then I'm going to be on with making invitations. I'm not the most arty/crafty person so need as much time as possible haha. Taking my lovely MOH shopping in the next few weeks to look at bridesmaid dresses.

Excited to hear how you all get on with your planning and sharing ideas/tips Smiley smile

    Hayley x

We booked our venue 10 days ago! Registrar booked as well. D-day is Sun 30th Sept 2018.

Our Venue (Saracen's head in Southwell) is a package with ceremony, wedding breakfast, evening room with DJ and buffet all in, so I've also got catering and entertainment sorted all in one fell swoop, just need to decide on what we are having for food closer to time.

I'm this- - close to booking a photographer, but he's the only one I've spoken to and I'm wary of booking the first one but I love his style of work, his prices fit in our budget, he seems super flexible and he's free on our date. Anyone else booked the 1st and only vendor for something? I've researched like crazy but he's the one that I feel like I have connected with even before I spoke to him.

Hi, I'm new here - just joined today!

I've just started planning for our 21st April wedding. The only thing I have booked so far is the church - we are having a joint wedding and christening service. We are keeping things fairly informal and low key. I'm thinking it will be more of a family gathering than a traditional wedding.

In fact, we are keeping it so low key, the only people who know at the moment are me, OH and our vicar!

We aren't really even engaged in the traditional sense - I've no ring, and as I say, we've not announced it yet. I'm still very excited though.

Are there any other 2nd timers here? The first time was about 15 years ago so is a dim and distant memory now!

We booked the very first caterer that we'd spoken to at a wedding fair before we'd even booked our venue - I had such a connection with the girl and their ideas were great so even when they turned out to be hideously expensive I just had to book them once we had confirmed our venue. We didn't look at any other caterers. Go with your gut; have a look at all of the photographer's photos - not just his highlights in his portfolio, and if you still like what you see just go for it. The photographer will be with you for most of the day so you need to have that rapport with him first and foremost.

Good luck and enjoy the rest of your planning, you're super lucky that you've got most stuff covered in your package!

It's only 8 months for me! I pretty much have everything sorted, I just have to start making my invitations soon and then there won't be much to do until January which is when i'm sure i'll start panicking even though everything is under control! We've just got family politics issues at the moment which I new would happen so it's putting a bit of a downer on the whole thing! That's the thing i've been dreading the most about planning!

Have you got your dress yet or is it being made?

Wow making your invites, we thought about doing that but I'm terrible at anything artistic.

O no it seems there is anyways a bit of family politics whenever there's a wedding. I hope yours isn't too bad.

Dress is currently being made although I am already having doubts about it! But from what I have read I think most people get a few doubts about their dress when its bought xx

I am quite crafty so I wanted to make them myself! I did want to make my cake myself as I make alot of cakes of other people but everyone said that I didn't need that kind of stress before the wedding as i'm a perfectionist and if it wasn't perfect I would be so stressed and I think they are right so we have a lovely lady making our cake!

Long story (aren't they always!) But my parents are very kindly paying for our wedding as we bought our first house last year and they know we don't have much money spare, they have taken in students to pay for it all, which is so lovely of them and i'm very lucky, so we've kept the numbers down for the day to 40 so that we can keep the costs down and i'm paying as much as I can. OH's parents aren't paying anything towards the wedding, which is fine that's their choice but every time OH comes back from being with his mum he starts saying that she wants all his aunts and uncles and cousins to go, (there are alot as he has a very big family on his mum and his dads side plus they want his step dads side to go) I remind him that we've got a budget and we can't have everyone to the day! It's causing us to argue which is not what we want in the run up to the wedding! So I've told him that if she wants all those people there then they need to pay for his side of family to come to the day and then my parents will cover the rest of the wedding and the answer I get back is why should we have to pay!! He also told my parents that he had saved enough money to buy a bike and is going to be buying one in January even though he said he can only afford to pay to hire three suits so it's getting a little tense at the moment! I knew his mum would cause issues and with 8 months still to go i'm dreading it!

You'll be fine once your dress arrives and you'll remember why you fell in love with it! I think everyone has dress wobbles at some point because it's such a long time before you see it again! I had dress wobbles twice! The first time I had picked a dress and paid a small deposit and was going back a few months later to get my measurements done and then to pay and order the dress, they told me it would be there for a while to come and try again as it was new in but a week later the dress was no longer there and I started to panic so went to their other shop and fell in love with another one so did my measurements and ordered the dress and then a few months donn the line panicked again that I had made the wrong choice but once I went and tried it on again I remembered why I fell in love with it! I can't wait till mine comes in Smiley smile x

    Hi all,

It's been a while since I did any major wedding planning, but this week I have chosen and paid the deposit on my dress and sorted my flowers. I thought I was making good headway and then decided to write a to-do list of things we still need to do and it seemed to go on forever! Roll on the honeymoon!!

Hi! I'm getting married 29 July 2018. We got engaged on 21 June this year, and so far I've:

    • booked the venue
    • booked the registrar
    • bought my dress
    • booked the photographer
    • printed and started sending save the dates
    • agreed with my friend that she'll make the cake
    • asked my bridesmaids

I've spent way longer looking at bridesmaid dresses than I did for my own dress!

My fiance is fed up of wedding stuff already ?

I am so excited about my dress! I keep looking at the photo my mum took of me in it! ? Wow! 8 months to go! We still have just under a year (next August) but it's all starting to feel very real now that so much seems to be happening!

You've got lots done already! My H2B is the same, he didn't really want to get involved yet moans if he's not involved in something!! I'm only having one bridesmaid and a flower girl so it was quite easy for me with their dresses, I saw some in coast last year and this year they had them in the perfect colour and my bridesmaid loved it so that was easier than I thought it would be and the flower girls dress matches perfectly!

I have my pictures on my phone of my dress but H2B is under strict instructions not to look at my phone! I try not to keep looking so that its a bit of a surprise again when I try my dress on in October! It's definitely feeling real now! Once Christmas is out of the way for me i'll problem start panicking about stuff!

Hi all - June 23rd 2018 for us! We have a venue and a celebrant, and that's the lot so far (though I did speak to a caterer today). Feels like ages away, I keep apologising to suppliers for getting in touch so far in advance! :-)

Hi all I'm new here and getting married on the 15th of August 2018 in Maidstone. I'm pretty up to date with booking bits but would love a bit of help from you guys as I have a very controlling mil who has sort of taken over my wedding and I'm starting to get a bit stressed ?? so any advice welcome! My venue, catering and photographer are booked and my wedding dress should be in at the end of October (this is a dress picked and paid for by my mil in a shop 2 hours away from where I live) but that's another story...

My countdown is under 300 days... but in weeks, its 41 and therefore still aaaages away! ? Funny how the lesser number seems the longest time...

We're off to meet some local suppliers in a couple of weeks - we live a long way from where we're doing the deed so I have the excuse for a few little trips north 'planning' to make the time pass quicker...

I'm getting married August 7th 2018 Smiley smile. Been a long time coming... been together 10 years and we have a six year old son too. Booked the venue, hired a private house sleeps 30 people and having the reception there plus staying a couple of extra nights with my family. Seeing the reverend this afternoon to kick off the church booking, marrying in our village church we can see from our house. Cake tasting booked for 29 Sept and got a few quotes from caterers etc but not looked at dresses yet which is holding me back a bit on flowers etc until I know colour scheme, although thinking of a blush dress hopefully. I've been trying to get organised as it is also my final year at uni (mature student!) and so I won't have much free time until May soon eek!! Exciting times ahead for us all Smiley smile

We're hiring a big holiday cottage for the reception as well BlushBride! We've just got back from a few days on the island our venue is on, running around meeting suppliers. Massive 'phew' moment as we'd booked the venue provisionally without actually seeing it... luckily it's great, and the owners are totally flexible to our ideas.

In the course of our trip the food budget has gone up substantially (I blame my other half), the booze budget is looking more realistic, and we're trying to work out how we can incorporate a massive sword into proceedings... but we now feel like we've got most of the main things sorted! The suppliers we met are amazing, creative, independents and everything is very exciting...

Anyone else find talking to suppliers immensely tiring? Two days of wedding chat and my brain wanted to shut down!

Ok... wow, some of you are worried your not organised enough this far in advance and i guarentee you have all done much more than me. And we plan to wed Friday 13th Juky 2018. (We got engaged on Friday 1eth January 2017 as it was the only day out of a full week the weather was good enough to hike the mountain my man wanted to propse at!) So I guess Friday 13th isn't unlucky for us!

Also all we have done is my friend viewed some potential reception venues and a proviional booking of the church we want to marry at. Although we have gone over everything via online methods with the Vicar they can't actually agree until we meet in person amd we won't be back in the UK until early next year! (Tho we have already covered everything amd shouldnt have any surprises so really its booked but cant say that until actual meeting!) We have been travelling the world for the past 3 years so are planning from abroad! Luckily my 2 amazong bridesmaid, 1 sister 1 lifelong friend, are just the most amazing people amd have sorted anything that needed sorted or viewed in advance.

Good news, not many people want to hold events on Friday 13th so we haven't had issue of things being booked up.

We are both such relaxed, chilled out people and are pretty used to 'winging it' so we are not really stressed about things,

Also we both are not into the whole huge wedding day so we are having a small untraditional day. Firstly we will have our 'wedding breakfast' just a meal with 20 people-family and cloest friends only. Pretty sure we know where we will go for this. Then we will have the ceremony later in the day 4/4.30 time. This will still be small just 40 people as we want to keep it intimate. Then we will bave a good old knees up party! Pretty sure we have decided on the venue for tbis too (same place as meal) but not locking ourselves in to it yet! They do catering so that solves that one.

Will just need to find a DJ!

Not fussed about decorations the room is fine as it is.

Im really lucky in that a lovrly friend of mine will make my dress when we visit her in New Zealand at the start of the year. Then another friend can alter it at home closer to the day if needed. Shes also happy to make the men's ties.

Cake wise we just want our favourite cake from costco!

My friend has offered to make 'seashell bouquets' as im not a flower person but worried I wouldn't know what to do with my hands with nothing to hold.

I have rjngs already as my engagement ring was a set. Fiancè has seen the one he wants so can arrange that before leaving for NZ.

I know my bridesmaid are totally different and we would never find a dress they both like so I've told them the colour scheme and the budget and they can let me know if they see anything before I am back to shop with them. Flower girl will be sorted closer to time.

Undecided on if we want a phitographer. Everyone will be taking pictures anyway. We might just ask for someone to take photis before we go for the meal. Can do a first look type of thing, then just need the wedding party tobe there. Everyone else will take endless photos all day anyways.

So yeah, don't even stress ifpt if you think your not organised. Your more prepared than me even tho we are not really having a wedding so i guess less to stress about!
