21.....!!

Little Madam, 14 March, 2012 at 21:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 24

My Husband is 21 tomorrow (well, with the time difference between Afghan and the UK, he is already celebrating). So a huge happy birthday to him!

He obviously has a terrible pang for home tonight - wanting to be here to celebrate.

So.. I'm going to organise something nice for when he is home. So please inspire me, what did you do for your 21st?

I had 2 seperate house parties - one with my family and one at my own place with my friends where we had a black party - everyone wore black and I wore blue, but I know this isn't really OHs thing.

    Didn't do much for mine...

Twas my wee sister's last week - we bought her 21 gifts all wrapped individually and hidden like lucky dip in a humungous box. Was great fun watching her open them (challenge is set for her for my 30th in 2 years!! hehehe)

Erm he might go for what we did - went out into town all dressed as slutty angels or devils!

How about a bouncy castle? My mum hired me one for my 18th and it was amazing - wanted one for another party ever since then!

Took me awhile to remember, I was in oz at the time. My friends made me a surprise 4 course meal, then we went to a casino then on to a nightclub. I thought everyone had forgotten.

Wow, I didn't realise he was so young!

For my 21st, I sat a Pathology exam (the joys of a June birthday!). I then went to formal hall with my friends, got very drunk and went cheesy clubbing. Was quite disappointed that my (then) underage sister got more attention than me!

You ladies have some wicked ideas - Thank you!

A casino is right up his street, perhaps that might be a go'er. I love the 21 presents idea too, and the bouncy castle (with BBQ) at home thing too!

Perhaps I can pull something out of the bag afterall!

I went on a family holiday, and spent the day doing things I knew my son would like.

Not a very rock n roll 21st, but i loved it. *saddo*

I did that for my sisters 18th. Very good idea.

I believe I may have got ridiculously drunk, hugged a random stranger in a bar, passed out, puked in my hair, and then fainted twice the following day.

But that was because several of my friends are American and decided they were going to celebrate 21 the american way and gave the bartender a list of 21 shots to bring to me every 10 minutes. Even by passing off half of them to my now MoH, I think I may have caused myself liver damage. Learn from my fail- Don't ever try that many different shooters in one night! And NEVER drink and 'All Canadian Boilermaker,' they're vile!

Happy birthday to your H LM! Aw it must feel so strange for you and him, big hug ?

As my 21st was 10 years ago I can hardly remember ? My friends and OH clubbed together and got us a limouisine, it was tacky of course, but very fun, I had a party too I believe but honestly can't remember what else!

For my OH at the time, I also did the 21 present thing which he loved, and made him a big 21 cake, I hired the 2 and 1 cake tins from somewhere local, and arranged his parents to come over as a surprise.

I was on my year abroad in France at the time. My actual 21st was spent on my own in my halls, eating a cake that I'd bought from the bakery and watching DVDs! It was half term and all of my friends had gone home, but I decided to stay in France and make the most of it.

I had a fake 21st though. My 3 other British friends and I went to Disneyland Paris and then had a party in my halls.

For Mr Knees' 30th, I made him a video. The first part was clips of home movies of him growing up. The second part was messages from all of his friends. Took me ages and I had to do a lot of sneaking around, but he really appreciated it.

I went bowling with my family and then had a Chinese with them in the evening.

Might not be very exciting to some, but (without sounding corny) just spending time with the whole family together made it a pretty awesome day.

My first baby was due the day after my 21st so we couldnt really plan anything, he was 14 days late in the end! We went to the pub and everyone just kept waiting for me to go into labour! For my Hs 30th this year we hired a bar and had a party with friend and a quieter meal with the whole family. I also got him 30 presents, his main ones being a pair of roller boots hes always wanted (he loved his roller boots as a kid!) and a 'cocky' belt buckle like Booth from Bones!

I didn't do a lot for my 21st - my brother had promised to take me to New York and never did (I still have the dollars I saved up in a piggy bank at home in case he ever keeps the promise) and I was at uni suffering with depression.

I once went to a friends party who had adult sumo wrestler suits - was brilliant fun! She also had loads of other kids party games and it was just an afternoon of real nostalgic fun.

I had a family party, which I really enjoyed. Invited the in-laws, although they weren't in-laws yet, and it gave an opportunity for our parents to meet in a relaxed setting.

I'm the oldest cousin on both sides, so my aunties and uncles made a real effort to attend which was nice.

On my ACTUAL birthday though I was working as an operator on the Clearing hotlines (joy of a mid-August birthday) which was a bit stressful!

I had a family meal the weekend before and then the actual day I went out with my uni friends, I presume there was fancy dress. I know I snogged the captain of the football team. At the time that seemed kind of a big deal. My best friend then made me 4 fish finger sandwiches when we got home. Twas a good birthday.

I doubt Mr LM feels like doing any of the above though.

I had heart surgery 3 weeks prior so planned a sophisticated quiet meal at my favourite Chinese

It ended with me dancing round a pole with a bottle of bubbly much to my friends concern ?

For my OH we did a 18 pub fancy dress pub crawl dressed L themed. We went as each other so he was a Lady and I was a Lad but both our names start with L. Looking back it was a tad cheesy

Me and my sister had a joint 18th (her) and 21st (me). Mum hired out a hall and we had a disco and fancy dress. The theme was 'What you want to be when you grow up'. I was a fireman, sister dressed a jockey and Mum was a traffic warden... Hilare.
