23 sleeps to go & H2B goes & breaks his arm!!

ImagineIt, 30 November, 2012 at 10:06 Posted on Planning 0 19

Morning Hitchers!

I had my first dress fitting yesterday afternoon! LOVE LOVE LOVE my frock!!! Just needs taking in a little bit, but apart from that all is fab! That part is irrelevant to this post, but just wanted to share. ?

OH decided to take his bike to the stadium to do some cycling last night. On his way out of the stadium, he hit a sleeping policeman & came off his bike! He got in & said he needed to go to hospital. So I dropped him off there as there was a 3 hour wait (& it was already 11pm) & came home. He rolls up at 3.30am this morning with a back slab cast on his arm! He has a longitudinal fracture (not across, its downwards, so i think this is what its called) of his radial bone. Lovely! The consultant will look at the x-rays today & let him know if he needs an op or not.

My immediate thought when I knew he was ok was 'how will his jacket fit over a cast!!' Haha!!! apparantly they use lightweight carbon (or something) casts now, so you don't have the bulk of plaster of paris. Surprisingly, apart from feeling sick when he told me he'd come off the bike, i'm pretty relaxed about it. There's nothing we can do & it's just a blessing it wasn't his neck.

Glad he is ok, and yes it could have been worse. Will probably become a bit of a joke at the wedding too. Poor him though cause I bet its painful.

Aww your poor H2B! Ouch. One of my groom broke his leg before and was on crutches, funny enough he also came off his bike. Crutches weren't a good look haha

At least he can still say his vows Smiley smile

Oh no!!! Thank god it wasn't worse!!

What arm is it though? I'm thinking 'can you get the ring on'? You'll have to get the cast man (pretty sure thats not the technical name for a medicical proffessional!) to leave a gap!!! LOL

Luckily it's his right arm so the ring finger is ok. I just said to him he'd have to practise signing his name with his left hand & he reminded me he's left handed.

Shows how tired I am!!! Haha!xx

Oh dear, poor him! Glad it's not more serious though.

You know, they can do those new lightweight casts in a range of colours now - you could get him to have one that matches your colour scheme!

Poor love! And ouch!! Glad it wasn't worse though!

I was about to mention that - when I broke my fingers, and another time when I damaged my shoulder, my fingers swelled up on the affected arm, so was going to mention about getting a bigger ring, but it's the wrong arm (well, the right arm...)

Hope he isn't in too much pain!

That made me laugh!! Glad his is okay!

Helania that is just what I thought- my friends Auntie got married not long ago with a bright pink colour scheme and one of the page boys (my friends lil bro) had broke his arm / wrist (not sure) and got it covered in bright pink- some funny photos of people signing it at the wedding.

The 'cast' signing sounds like a good idea! I will run that by him later. ?

He's scraped his left knee really badly too. That'll be a nice scab by the time the wedding comes...and he's wearing a kilt. haha! ?

16 sleeps to go now! ?

He went back to the hospital today to see the consultant & have an x-ray. The consultant wasn't there & the x-ray came back saying no improvement & possibly worse!!

So he's to go back for a CT scan next week & then the day after to see the hand surgeon. They've left the back slab cast on, so he still doens't even have a proper cast yet.

He's told them (A million times) about the wedding. He still may need an op though. ?

I doubt it would be this side of xmas though. (wishful thinking maybe)

So we're still no better than we were last week. MUST NOT GET STRESSED ABOUT IT!!!

Sorry there hasn't been any improvement with his arm. Hope they see him soon!

Well done not getting too stressed out about it. Hope all the other plans are going well ?

    Thank you.xxx

Everything else is sorted pretty much. We may need to organise a different mode of transport for him on the wedding day now. He was supposed to be taking all the stuff to the venue in the morning. Hope he can scrounge a lift from someone now.

The main thing is that he's ok & we will still be getting married! (Not too happy about the possibility of driving all over xmas, but hey ho)xx
