Think it depends completely on your circumstances and plans...

I wouldn't have a winter wedding, but then I live in the middle of nowhere, and snow (when it turns up) causes major chaos, even if there is only an inch or so! Rain doesn't generally cause major problems around here (wet anyway so the infrastructure is used to it!) and council policies don't help with snow resiliance (no gritting overnight, ever, even on major trunk routes). Add in that our guests would have to come over one of the highest A-Roads in southern England and the obvious work around (on major routes) is the now notorious A38 Haldon Hill stretch and winter just struck me as a bad idea.

Equally I decided to avoid school holidays as the roads are a total mess on Fridays and Saturdays and accommodation is heinously expensive..

We're new year's eve this year and organising has been great. we booked late and had no trouble with venue or suppliers. the only issue that way is that it's been hard to get a hairdresser out but that's the particular day.

we have had quite a few declines but those are evening guests (25 out of 80 to date). part of that is generally winter things, families trying to be together but a lot more is more specific to new years and travelling just for an evening. the most important people will be there and i think it's going to be all kinds of romantic Smiley smile candles everywhere!

    DATE TWIN!

We're also getting married 22/12/12. I LOVE Christmas, my favourite time of the year. We live in Scotland, so we figured even if we booked a 'summer wedding' it could be miserable, so at least this way we're expecting it to be cold, fingers crssed for snow though, perhaps not just as much as last year!

I have just ordered my STD and plan to post them in with this years christmas cards, exciting!

Not sure you are asking me or not, but mine are on a "slice" of wood - our theme is Winter Woodland meets Narnia as we are both outdoor type of people and wanted a natural decor:

    Hiya!

i have church, venue, pig roast and band booked. They are the main things so I am relieved thats all done. I have started buying bits and bobs for decorating the church etc just to spread the cost mainly!

We are not having the traditional receptiona nd evening do as we have been married before , so the idea is for a late afternoon wedding followed by a big party, that way everyne is invited to everything. It keeps things nice and simple and we wanted to go for more of an informal fun affair this time round!

How are things going with you?

From a photography standpoint I would strongly advise against a Ceremony later than 2pm because of the lack of light.

I had 5 weddings between the 3rd Dec and the 6th January and that's the only thing I found problematic.

    1pm would be ideal!

Were getting married in a hotel as we thought it would be best at that time of year, we have the venue booked, we got a really good package which included flowers for the venue etc and a dj. we would both really like a band for the reception but think they may be abit out of our budget - if anyone can recommend a good band in the york area it would be appreciated.

i was at a wedding similar to how your planning last december and it worked really well, they saved a bit of money as they werent feeding people twice and there was a great atmosphere as people hadnt been waiting around - it flowed really well.

that being said im getting married at 1 Smiley atonished

    I'm 29/12/2012 too!

A few people have said we're mad but we don't care as long as we are organised and we've done a lot so far. My family live all over the place for work etc so choosing Christmas holidays was an obvious choice as they'd all be home for the holidays.

    Oooh date twins, date twins!

    I'm 29/12/2012 too.

We chose that date because it sits nicely between our birthdays, H2B's birthday is Christmas Day, and mine is New Year's Day!
