Beginner April 2011

2nd time round

bluebutterfly, 9 August, 2009 at 03:03 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi everyone,

I have recently got engaged and have planned our wedding for April 16th 2011 ( long way off, but need to find cash first!)

This is my second marriage. I am so exited about it all!

However, I am 40 years old, and am worried I am going to look rather stupid coming down the aisle ( have found a church which will marry us)

Anyone else here been married before?

Congrats to you all, x Bluebutterfly️⭐️

Like you I am very excited and was also a little worried about looking ott on the day, we are getting married in church and I am having the long ivory dress although not a big pooffy one. As the nice ladies on here told me when I was having dress wobbles, Its your day, have what YOU want. Enjoy the planning and Congratulations xx

    I'm a 2nd time arounder too!

I did the whole church wedding, reception in a hotel the first time around and I didnt particularly want to go down that route again. Plus there were a few things that I wasn't allowed to compromise on (thanks to Ex) so some of it didn't feel like my day. But now we're getting married abroad on a beautiful beach, I'm wearing white (well ivory..because yes it does suit me thanks ?) and I'm having my best friend as a bridesmaid...like I should have done...etc.etc

I sound quite bitter still, but I'm not...just delighted to be marrying someone who loves me to bits and is happy for me to sort everything out ? ?

I'm only 32 so it feels like I was never really married before so this is sooo exciting

I'm also a 2nd timer, although it almost feels now like my 1st happened to someone else.

I'm so much happier and more excited this time round and decided I didn't care a jot for what anyone thought about what I'm "supposed" to do - we're having quite a few unconventional touches anyway - my friend told me the other day I'm "not normal for a bride" ?

Im getting married for the 3rd time in a months time.

Just because you've done it before doesnt mean it's any the less important to you both...it's still your day..your way!

Were not getting married in a church, for me that didnt feel right. I have toned down my dress a little but it's more beacuse thats what I felt comfortable than anythign else...I love it no one else has to.

DOnt worry about what everyone else thinks...have a blast!

Good luck with all your planning

I got married for the 2nd time in June. I'm 38.

I had exactly what I wanted, unlike the first time (charming xh!!), we didn't have a religious service but my Dad walked me down the aisle in my ivory dress (ivory looks better on me than white). It was a wonderful day, and exactly what we wanted.

It was the first time dh had been married, and we wanted it to be a "proper" wedding if you know what I mean.

Do what you, if anyone doesn't like it - tough!
