30 day shred

Wifeytobe88, 16 January, 2014 at 09:47 Posted on Planning 0 20

Inspired by the crash diet thread! Ladies who've tried this, what's it like? What exercises does it involve, and did you find it worked?

I'm a regular gym goer (usually spin twice a week and yoga once a week, but i've stepped up to three spins a week in prep for my wedding in 5 weeks!) but as I've been going to spin for years it probably doesn't push me as hard as it should (I find a 20 minute interval training run on the treadmill harder than a 45 minute spin class!) and I really want to look my best slim/toned self for my wedding! Plus this DVD is only a fiver so I'm considering getting it.

Realistically could I do it and still go to spin and yoga?

It's based on 1,2 and 3 min exercises and only totals about 30 mins from start to finish incl warm up and cool down.

You do star jumps, skipping without a rope, jogging on the spot type things for 3 mins, then squants with lifts, lunges etc for 2 mins then 1 min of sit-up variations for 3 cycles. it has 3 levels which you do 10 days of each. The exercises vary and get harder through the levels

It is good. I lost inches on it, and really toned up. I found it tough but managable because it's only 30 mins a day.

My only down side is that my knees killed after a couple of weeks. I have problem knees anyway from being younger so I recommend good bouncy trainers to minimise the impact. I did it on a hard floor in barefeet and I think this might have made the issue worse.

You can find it on you tube if you want to check it out first but it's a big tick from me.

No reason why you couldnt do both! Its a 20 min workout but works you pretty hard.

The first time I done it I could barely walk the next day!

Get it!! I love it ... well i hate it but the results are fantastic. Personally i see results within 5-7 days.

Its hard work and the first time i done it i couldnt sit down for a day or two but then again im not a huge exercise fan, i go running now and again but that it.

The DVD is about 26 minutes long from warm up to warm down. It a 3-2-1 concept, 3 mins strength work (inc weights) 2 mins cardio and 1 min abs, done in 3 circuits. When i finish I am always out of breath and sweating (sorry TMI).

I would 100% reccomend it and i think you could fit it in if you have 25mins a day free.

Thanks all, I think I'm sold! What kind of weights do you need? All I have at home is one set of little pink dumb bells!

What weight are they? I think i use 2kg ones and couldn't manage much more. I think Jillian used 2lbs so I feel like I'm more hardcore than her! Her emphasis is less weight more repetition so small ones are fine.

Yep you don't need big weights, I just have some pink 3kg weights, works well for me.

Good luck it kills and Jillian is annoying as hell but it works.

This work out is absolutely brilliant, I can't recommend it enough. Jillian really works you hard but you really do get results. I lost 5 inches on my waist with this in 30 days. Some people find they might not lose lots of actual weight but they do lose inches as it really tones you. Thankfully I lost inches and pounds. I'm a huge fan of Jillian and bought her 90 day revolution DVD plan too. I'm on the 2nd time through it and will finish it the week of my wedding. If you're willing to commit to it and eat well too then it will work.

Agree with all of the above. It's a great DVD, it takes hardly any time out of your day and really works. I like Jillian's style, she doesn't fluff it out with airy fairy bullsh1t, she just gets straight to the point. She often says if you want a 20 minute workout out that gets results, then you have to work at it. That's true, it's not easy, but you do get more used to each level, and I enjoy a new challenge when I progress to the next level (just gone up to level3...ouch!). I regularly run and cycle and I am quite fit, but this really does work me out in a different way. Definitely worth giving it a go for a fiver! Also, if you don't have hand weights, use baked bean cans!

I love the 30DS, I've just started it up again a couple of days ago after my Christmas laziness and it feels so good to be back on it.
Agree with everyone else it's doable for you to manage the 20 mins along with your other classes, it really does the trick and I lost most of my weight through doing that most days.
I use two 3kg hand weights but it doesn't matter the weight and as someone else says if you don't have weights handy use tins of something Smiley smile Good luck!

I love the 30 day shred. I did it in October and have just started it again after over indulging this Christmas. I'm only on day 4 but I feel fabulous already (honestly!)

I recommend having one 'rest day' a week and following this diet as closely as you can http://images.agoramedia.com/jillianmichaels/cms/jillian-michaels-ripped-in-30-meal-plan-v.pdf

I do it every third day - and noticing a difference, use 1.5kg weights, and haven't progressed past level 1. But it's awesome and I recommend to everyone I can. It hasn't just improved the size of me, it's really improved my ability to run too because my core is a lot stronger now.

This thread has inspired me to order the DVD and some little weights. I really need to get toned up (especially my arms) by the time I walk down the aisle. Wouldn't mind a bikini body ready for my honeymoon a few months later too!

Well I did my first Level 1 session yesterday! Can't say I'm hurting today, and I didn't find it really hard, but it wasn't easy either - definitely broke a sweat, and my arms were really hurting during! I'm going to do another Level 1 session tonight before my yoga class, but I might switch to Level 2 after.

I dont start from L1 anymore I go stright into L2 as I prefer it - work up much more of a sweat during the cardio.

You must be fit though if your not hurting, i couldnt walk down stairs the first time i done it, then again im not into exercise at all.

I'm quite fit as I go to spin regularly, I went to a body pump class last Tuesday just because my spin class was cancelled - I never usually go and we did loads of squats, my legs were in AGONY Wednesday and Thursday! So that probably warmed them up before I did 30 day shred! I might well ache after doing Level 2 though, stay tuned...
