5 days until wedding...and pregnant...

pink_tink, 2 June, 2012 at 18:15 Posted on Planning 0 36

Hi all,

I`m getting married in 5 days and have found out I am 6 weeks pregnant, I`m excited but it wasn`t planned until after the wedding.

I feel sick all the time, tired and am also worried about the not drinking....

Does anyone have any tips? I`ve posted it in the baby talk forum too

Thanks x

    Congrats, how exciting!

I would just stick to appletizers, then it will just look like normal fizz.

If people offer to buy you drinks, just say you have had enough.

    Congratulations!!

My advice would be exactly as others have said, either ask your OH to order you soft drinks (no-one will notice) or just pass it off as slight headache/want to remember everything from the evening/had enough already.

Ooohhh very many congratulations, try not to worry the adrenaline on the day will get you through, I was in the same predicament and it made the day even more special, even now my son asks why his big sister was a bridesmaid at our wedding when he wasn't There and I can say to him that he was Smiley smile so relax and just enjoy.

Like the other's have said, let the bar staff in on the secret & let them serve you something that looks like the real deal but is non alcoholic. Then later in the day just say you've had a headache & taken paracetamol & you don't want to mix that with drink. Congratulations!!!

Congrats. Another drink you can disguise is bucks fizz. Let people think you're drinking this when actually you're just drinking fanta or something similar.

    Congratulations!

As the others have said, it should be fairly easy to disguise. Drink fizzy drinks without the alcohol, if asked if you want one either say something like"it's ok thanks, I have a few over there" then change the convo, or "actually I'm really hot and thirsty, can I just have a lemonade?".

    Easy.

Thank you everyone ? It doesn`t quite feel real yet - apart from feeling rough! Close family know so hopefully they can help disguise it all.

    Thanks everyone.

OH WOW congratulations! How lovely for you both, I loved being pregnant, the first stages are tiring but like someone else said the adrenaline of the day will see you through. Also i think ginger biscuits help with sickness, if you have any lol they helped me anyway.

I dont know how you will keep the big news to yourselves Smiley smile hehe

Congratulations! Lots of advice on the drinking situ but wanted to give you some tips for the nausea... I have always felt really rough at 6 weeks so I feel for you.. Firstly tiredness makes it far worse so make sure you get plenty of sleep the night before, eat little and often all day, and if possible sip fizzy water or similar to keep the nausea at bay. Xx

I was pregenat when I went to a work colleagues wedding and drank coke (most of the people there new I like Malibu and coke) so I said it was this and no one realised Oh bought me my drinks and we managed to keep it quite. It wasn't till I anounced it some weeks later that people put two and two together. The appltize sounds like a good one or lemonade with a hint of lime would look simular. You will still have a fantastic time. As for feeling sick I found the weight watches ginger stem biscuts made me feel better in the morning just put a couple on a plate and no one would now.

    Congratulations !

    Huge congratulations

Ginger biscuits and ginger beer are good for nausea.

As far as the drinking goes you will be so busy no one will notice if you are drinking or not and it isn't that unusual for someone to want a non alcoholic drink if someone buys them a drink on a long days event. If someone insists just pass it along to someone else when they aren't around. I wouldn't tell the bar staff in case someone lets it slip.

    Congrats to you!

A friend of mine when she doesn't drink has the pink or red j20 in a wine glass. You'd never know what was in there wasn't alcoholic

    have a great day! x

Congratulations! Hope that the LO behaves itself and you're not feeling too sick on the day!

You've had lots of sensible advice about hiding the fact you're not drinking, so I won't repeat that. It's worth saying though, that a small amount of alcohol is not going to do any harm (the current guidelines are as strict as they are because they don't think people would understand the concept of moderation *sigh*), so if you wanted a glass of bubbly for the toast or whatever, you could have one.

    Oh many, many congratulations!

I hope everything goes just perfectly for you on the day - hopefully, rather than heighten wedding stress, it will just put things in perspective for you, rather than spend the last few days before the wedding hysterical about bunting and cupcake cases like the rest of us, you will be calm and collected and have a real sense of what actually matters about the day!
