I haven't tried the 5:2 diet myself but, just my personal thoughts you understand:

Number one: judging by your profile picture, you don't need it.

Number two: very bad for your health and you're unlikely to lose actual weight - only fluid

Number three: there is only one sensible and advised way to lose weight and that is to eat sensibly and exercise.

    WSS

Its not a safe diet to follow, just another fad. I recommend slimming world highly, its a great, safe eating plan no matter how much or little weight you want to lose.

I tried the 5:2 diet for about 3 weeks,

It's not a great diet, I did lose weight but only very slowly. It doesn't teach you anything about food, I found I would go through a fast day and then on my 'normal' days when I should have been eating around 2000 calories, I was completely scoffing and eating anything I could as I remembered how hungry I was on my fast day!

I would say it is a good diet if you want an easy way to do it and you can restrict yourself on your off days. But if you don't have any will power it is really easy to eat all the wrong things and then your fast days are cancelled out.

I find simple calorie counting on my fitness pal the best.

    Hope that helps Smiley smile
