5th October 2013.....Any date twins??

teapotty, 18 July, 2012 at 18:23 Posted on Planning 0 104

We are getting married on 5th October 2013 in York and was wondering if I had any dates twins? I have seen a few names on the 2013 thread but not sure if any use this regularly?

Would be great to share plans, tips and stress!!

    Yay!

How far are you both along in your planning? I feel like I've planned quite a bit and now I'm just waiting for the months to pass! Although it has been alsmost a year since we got engaged and that has FLOWN by, so the next year probably will too...aghh!

Why have you maybe got to change your date CG?

I have plans just not been able to action any while making a venue choice! I have a little book of things that I know I want and once things are confirmed venue wise I will be on it Smiley smile

Date choices have been the bane of my life! I was originally going for September - didn't want summer or early part of the year and September seemed the ideal option. However most of the venues I looked at were offering off season packages (OCtober) at a really reasonable rate so I changed to 5th October (my budget is based on me saving like a loon Smiley smile ). However of the three I have it narrowed down to one has availability in September and has offered me some off season rates for a peak season date! Hence the potential change in date. Epic or what! lol

My problem is I love all three of my potential venues and now I have to make a choice *bites nails and cries*

Ah no way, that's such a hard choice! Maybe book to see them again and think of where you will have your pictures and stuff? You have probably already done this though Smiley smile

We were lucky becuase we walked past our venue on the day we got engaged and I said (without having looked inside or even knowing if they did weddings!) I want to get married here......we booked a viewing and booked!

I'm 11th October (or at least I will be when I have put all the deposits down!).

I have penciled in church and venue, and am putting deposits down on next week. The tog we would like is free on our date and we will go and meet her in a couple of weeks. I'm also pulling together quotes of different bits and bobs so we have an idea of what we need to spend on what.

Hi Teapotty, Well I am your exact date twin!! I am getting married in Knutsford, cheshire and am wedding mad at the moment. I have only booked my venue but have been doing lots of research. I am going with cadbury purple for my colour scheme as it matches with the venue really well.I am also incorporating in some birdcages, so favours, table plan, cake etc My OH keeps telling me to calm down as I keep coming up with new ideas,(at every hour of the day/night) hehe! I don't really wanna try on any dresses until a year before the date, not sure what the logic is behing this but thats what's in my head. Have you tried any on?? How are your plans coming along?? xx

    YAY!! A DATE TWIN!!

Be prepared for this to happen all the time, even when you have chosen and paid for things!!

Ooh I know Knutsford quite well, where are you getting married?

I have tried on and chosen / ordered my dress! It is due to arrive at the shop in October (I ordered it in December!) so be careful about leaving it too late if you don't want a dress 'off the hanger'.

You are so organised! I have confirmed by reception venue and are in process of negotiating with the priest (looooong story)- he is confirmed for the day though, I've only been engaged since the end of May though.

Thats all I've done, apart from the top table seating plan lol, it's complicated!

How come your dress took so long to come in or is that fairly standard?

    xxxx

I completely get this logic! I don't want to try any dress till Oct- cos that will probably be what skin tone I'll be when we get married (i.e faded tan)

I'm 5th October 2013 too!! We've booked our church and reception venue but that's it for now! Have had a few quotes for a dj but haven't booked anything yet as we're moving house in a week so hectic (and expensive!) time! I figured I'd start looking at dresses in September/October when the year countdown begins!

A friend of mine got married recently and she was so organised and chilled the few weeks before her wedding that it inspired me to try and do the same (although I a complete stress head so doubt I will be chilled!) I am also making lots of bits and bobs myself so wanted to give myself plenty of time to do that!

I'm not completely sure why my dress is taking so long to come in to be honest! It is a Pronovias dress so I don't know if that has anything to do with it?!!

    Hi!

I don't blame you for focusing on the house! We are supposed to be buying a house too but it just keeps getting pushed back and back and back......

    Where are you getting married?

Hertfordshire! I think it's good you're getting stuff done early, as I'm sure the time will fly by! I'm hoping once we're in our house and have had a few more paydays I can start getting some more stuff organised! Have seen some bridesmaid dresses I like though so we're going to order those soon (as haven't seen anything else similar I like!). What colour scheme are you having?! x

Oooh please flash your bm dresses!

We are having grey BM dresses and having purple throughout wedding but not really sticking to it!! I'm not worried about it being all matching.

    What about you?

Hi Fellow date twins (or approx date twins) ?

Teapotty - Sorry I must have missed your post. I'm getting married at Belle Epoque. Do you know it? I love York, was there a few weeks ago for the races. Whats your venue like?

sR2 - I've caved and have booked to start trying on dresses for the 1st of sept. I couldn't wait until october, just getting too excited. You still waiting??

Cindabrella - How's the house move coming along? Did you get the BM dresses in the end? Would love a flash.

Curvygirl - So glad you got your venue booked in the end, no more tears. ?

I've got a TOG in the pipeline and will arrange a date soon to get him round. I have also found a cake design which I love and have just emailed a couple of cake makers for a quote. Also emailed for a quote for a band. How's everyone else getting on??

Sound like you're doing very well! what's the cake like?

We moved house a week ago so lots to sort out still, and unfortunately the wedding planning has taken a bit of a backseat, but hoping in a few weeks I'll be able to get back into it! Still haven't ordered the bridesmaid dresses but I'll try and get a picture up once I do!

Wow what a lovely venue, you'll get some great photos ? Here's a flash of my cake. i'm only having the top three tiers as i'm not keen on the bottom and don't really need it for our numbers. i've had a really good quote so looks like i'll be going ahead with this one. so excited!! Sorry for massive pic!! As you can see i'm going with a birdcage theme and my colours will be dark purple (i've asked for the flowers to be in this colour to match) I'm glad the move went well. Don't worry too much about planning we have plenty of time and it's better to get your house organised first. Very exciting times for you though.

Okay. The story so far. We've booked the venue - Bickley Manor in Kent

    *flash*

Trying dresses on 8th September, the following week I am going bridesmaid dress shopping. Asked my sister to MOH, my best friend Mon to be bridesmaid and a college friend Jo to be bridesmaid too. Asked H2B's brother to be best man, his best friend to be usher and other usher is my brother in law.

Asked my sister in law to do a reading but she said no so still looking into who will do that. I'm lucky my mum makes wedding cakes so she's doing that for me. Erm....going to book photographer today hopefully and then just a few more bits.

My tables are going to be named after sweets (something my H2B and I love) and my favours are going to be organza bags with the sweets in them. My mum and sister are keen cross-stitchers and have cross stitched our initials onto all 100 bags (slightly over what we actually need but can have some extras for the evening!).

Ideas are coming out of my head all the time and I think H2B is feeling the strain of having to curb my enthusiasm.

ALL IN ALL I'M ONE EXCITED PERSON!

I think i'm doing pretty well with all the plans. Not found the dress yet and worried I won't find the Perfect one due to liking little bits of each wedding dress and wishing i could combine. Karenanne - did you decide on your dress in the end and can we get a flash of you in it? x

OOoo, how exciting I'm a date twin too! I've lurked on the forum for a bit and posted a few things and I've noticed the "2014 brides" and gone to find the 2013 list but always got sidetracked by all the other posts!

Anyhoo, when this post was started you all sound so organised! We only got engaged in June and decided on the date in August when we booked our venue, which is Grafton Manor in Bromsgrove and I've also booked a photographer. That's it!

So excited, though! Looking forward to sharing all our details together!
