6 months to go and looking for a weight loss buddy!

AliceG100514, 11 November, 2013 at 19:58 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 127

Hi everyone Smiley smile

starting to panic a bit now as it's 6 months until my wedding day and I still need to lose roughly 2.5 stone! Eek!! I bought a size 14 wedding dress in a sample sale and I will fit into it! Probably shouldn't have put myself under so much pressure, but I thought it would be motivating.. Ha!

I've lost roughly 3.5 stone the last 2 years, but it's really slowed down now. Does anyone else have quite a bit of weight to lose for their wedding? I would love to find a weight loss buddy for support!

Alice

    Hi Alice!

Happy to be your buddy. I find the best way is if you create a myfitnesspal account and we can befriend there and oull each others ears if we come off the line Smiley smile

I also have 6 months to go, as my dress is being custom made, I'd like to have it ready 2 months b4 the actual date) and a stone to lose and never find again!

Daily morning walk and eating fresh fruits rather other unhealthy stuffs would really reduce your body weight

Right! Back on it today. Up at 6:20 to take the dog out, we did a good 30 mins, which I shall repeat this evening.

    Porridge for breakfast

Toast and Cream cheese for lunch

Broccoli and Walnut pasta for dinner.

Once I'm out of bed it's fine and I love being outdoors, it's just the throwing back the covers bit that's tough.... took me 20 mins this morning!

Today we are off to a good start, 30 min dog walk, 40 min walk to work and healthy meals planned. Hopefully, another dog walk tonight too.

I have 176 days till the wedding, so now I have an actual date, I feel more motivated :-)

Good for you! Smiley smile I love a good walk in the morning! Especially when it's sunny and crisp out Smiley smile

Are you getting married on a Friday then? I have 177 days to go so I'm the day after you!

I'm hoping to give Zumba another go tonight! This particular group I've tried once before, but it was so packed and hard to follow. Hoping tonight will be better!

    have a great day!

Yes! We got our date confirmed yesterday. Can't wait. smack bang in the middle of our holiday so we get a good 4 days relaxing/celebrating after too!

I love walking, I'm determined to try and get out twice a day with my dog and walk to work at least twice a week.

I love the sound of Zumba, but I don't know if there are classes near me. I might join a class of some sort in the new year. Decided I'd like to lose 25 lbs if possible!

Oops!! Hehe. It is difficult resisting cake. I'm in Starbucks are there's loads of nice festive drinks and treats. Thankfully my favourite one has been taken off the menu (salted caramel mocha), so I could resist. Gone for a skinny cappuccino instead!

Have you got your dress already?

No! I just started a thread in the WP board. I think i'll wait till after Christmas, see what there is in the sales (not going for a traditional dress) If I buy one in a size 10 it might motivate me more though....

    Hello ?

Can I be a weight loss buddy with you all?

I have just over 6 months to go and was hoping to lose 3 stone by the time the day rolls round; I have only managed 10lbs so far and seem to be losing motivation ?

My lovely Dad said he would give me £500 extra spending money for our honeymoon if I manage to lose the 3 stone before my wedding day but even that doesn't seem to be spurring me on.

I've recently joined a Crossfit gym so am hoping that will help with toning up but need to take control of what I am eating!

    Welcome Pickle!

Today has been okay for me. Not done any excersize but on day 6 of not drinking so feeling really pleased about that. And because I won't be hungover tomorrow me and the dog will go out for a long walk.

Also been in touch with a new gyn in my village. £25 a month doesn't seem bad.

    Hello Alice and Muppet ;-)

I am just trying to watch what I eat, although I think I might join Slimming World after Christmas as I have done it in the past and found it good ;-)

I do have MyFitnessPal on my phone but have never really got round to using it, I had a look at adding you as a friend Alice but couldn't figure it out ?

I'm probably being a bit special but all I could see was the options to add a friend through contacts, facebook or email not by username?

Well done on the not drinking Muppet ;-) I think I really need to stop drinking as well, I don't go out and drink loads but I will quite happily have a G&T or a glass of wine or two at home on an evening and I suppose it is all extra calories.

£25 a month sounds pretty good for the gym, I am paying £45 although I am loving the Crossfit gym, I find it challenges me more and is lots more rewarding than any other gym I have ever been too.

I am slightly jealous that you have your dress as inspiration to lose weight for Alice, like Lil_2014 I am getting mine made and the dressmaker won't be starting till a couple of months before my wedding so I don't have to fit into anything in particular and I don't have any photos of me looking like a fat little piggy in my dress to spur me on!

Shall we check in once a week with our weight losses? We could pick a certain day and then see how we are all getting on?

A weekly weigh in would work for me.

I'm surprised how easy quitting drinking has been. We normally had beer or wine every night. I've already noticed positive things in terms of saving money so hopefully thr waist is happy too

Going to make soup today for lunches at work. I decided last night I will join the gym. I always felt becuase I have a dog I should just take him out more but there is no reason why i can't do both.

Tbere are 2 gyms near me. Both new. One alot closer but 10 quid more. But maybe I'd use it more?

I want to buy my dress in the new year to motivate me more.

    Morning ladies Smiley smile

hope you're all having a skinny weekend!

well done with cutting down on the alcohol! I hardly drink alcohol, but I'm addicted to coffee shops!! I do prefer my calories in peanut butter and chocolate form though Smiley winking

I see what you mean about adding people on myfitnesspal, they don't make it easy! The option is actually under add by email address!

Go for it Muppet!! Think of all the money you're saving by cutting down on alcohol. ive been thinking about joining the gym for ages- my local one is new too and charges £37/ month corporate rate for gym/ swimming/ classes. Luckily there is not a minimum contract, so I should do it! I already go to aqua fit once a week, which costs £5.30 without the membership. Now that I'm not paying for weight watchers membership it's much more affordable! Should I just do it?!?

I weight in every Friday, so I will let you know how I get on! I lost 1.5lbs this week, wahoo! So glad as I feel like nothing has been happening recently and I'm fully aware that time is Flying by. Ahhhhh!! Less than 6 months!!! Excited and feeling positive though haha Smiley smile

    Hello ;-)

A weekly weigh in every Friday sounds good then, if that suits everybody? We can update which how much we've *hopefully* lost!

Well done Alice on your 1.5lb from last week, that's great ;-) I've just been maintaining recently.

Muppet; I'd say pay the £10 extra and go for the gym nearer to you. If you are anything like me there will be days when you will make any excuse not to bother going so the nearer it is the better ;-) Having a dog held me back from joining for a while as well, because I usually get my exercise walking and occasionally running with him, but like you said there is no reason why we can't do both.

Alice; I've sent you a request on MyFitnessPal and am going to make an effort to use it, excuse me being stupid about how to add you, I'm in the middle of a set of 12 hour night shifts and they are making my head a bit woolly ? I'd say go for it with joining the gym; if you are saving on Weight Watchers and you already pay the £5.30 a week for AquaFit anyway then it sounds like you will hardly miss the little bit of extra money ;-) I used to do AquaFit, I loved it, it was so much fun. The only downside to my gym membership is that there is no swimming included.

Have you got a picture of your dress Alice that you can flash us? I'd love to see it; I'm slightly envious of all the people that already have their dresses ;-)

    Hello! Smiley smile

I got your friend request so thanks Smiley smile

Well I've tried inserting the image, but it's not working on my phone. Here is the link though: http://www.morilee.co.uk/products/1904/ obviously that's not me!! Smiley smile

I haven't seen it in person since July, so I hope I'll still like it! I got it in a sample sale, so it's currently living across the road in the bridal shop. Once I've lost some more weight I'll go try it on again Smiley smile

Do you know the sort of dress you guys want? Have you tried any on? I think I only tried on 3 in total and that was the first one. It was far too hot and busy and I just wanted to leave! I do love my dress though and I hope I feel like a princess on the day Smiley smile

    Hello,

Alice - your dress is gorgeous, I love the detailing at the top and the low back, have you got it in ivory or white?

Muppet - I really like the lace ASOS one, it is very pretty ;-)

My dress is going to be mainly based on this one...

But it will have a different neckline to suit my body shape more and I am going to have a pale grey petticoat ;-)

I absolutely adore the dress but sometimes worry that I haven't picked the most flattering dress considering I am hardly skinny and I think some of the longer dresses maybe do more for your shape than tea length ones ?

Am aiming to be a size 14 for my wedding day though and will be pleased if I make it ;-)

Prosecco, yummy, am very jealous, lol ;-) But glad you are back on track today!

    Hello! Smiley smile

Awww Muppet, don't worry about the prosecco, today is a new day! You can do it!!! Smiley smile I currently have 2 cases of prosecco in my house ready for the wedding! It does keep winking at me. All of those dresses are lovely! Perfect for a wedding abroad.

Love that dress Pickle!! I'm sure it will look beautiful, whatever size you are. I also want to get down to a size 14, as that is what my dress is. Think I should probably aim for a 12 though, just incase the dress comes up small!! Haha. Sort of wish I had got a lace up back one as they are much more flexible with size! Well, at least it's pushing me to lose weight Smiley smile

I do like the lace one, but I love the idea of a strapless dress. But it is gorgeous.

Is that running 5k? Sounds good; I take my dog with me when I go running and he loves it ;-)

Only thing is I normally go running with a friend and my dog will stop right in front of him every so often causing him to nearly fall over, lol.

You can buy belts that you clip your dog lead to so that you can have your hands free whilst running, I haven't bought one yet but keep thinking about it.

Yeah - I used to run all the time, but will have to start from scratch I think, so need to dry off my trainers! Plan to start next week. My dog seems to be pretty good pace maker and it will be good for him too!

Also have a fruit and veg box being delivered so hopefully can make super healthy meals too!

    How is everyone getting on?

I went running today with my mate and the dog; we monitored it on an app and did 25 minutes at a 10 miles per hour speed with no stopping so pretty pleased ;-)

I'm sure your dog will love it Muppet, my dog hardly ever barks or makes a noise but the minute my friend that I always go running with turns up at our door he goes bananas and starts squealing like a complete nutter!

The fruit and veg box sounds like a good idea, how much do you pay for that?

Are we looking forward to weigh-in day tomorrow? I am a bit nervous but have tried my best all week so can just hope it pays off!

    I need to join this!!!

I'm getting married 14th March and really want to be a size 10-12, currently a size 12-14 already had a few dress fittings. My dress is a size 14 and actually looks great already on (I have a flattering dress for my shape) but I am hoping to lose 1-2 stones. I'm the biggest I have ever been used to be a size 8 pre-kids and a size 10 after my son, had my daughter almost a year ago now and the baby weight is really not coming off. Last time I weighed I was just over 11st, no idea what I am, I dread to think after the way I have been eating recently, been eating like it's Christmas already ? I'll weight myself tomorrow as see where I am at.

Good luck whoever is weighing in tomorrow!!

Hello Welsh Sam ? Dropping a dress size sounds perfectly achievable by March, do you use myfitnesspal?

Weigh-in results - I have lost 2lb this week, yippee ? Now I just need to keep this rate of loss!

Muppet and Alice - how did you two get on?
