6 months to go - i've hit a wall

sheree_heptinstall, 28 February, 2012 at 19:21 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi all, back on hitched after abandoning the thoughts of wedding planning until 'nearer the time' - what a mistake!

I've hit a wall a little with my planning, have my ticklist to do, but i feel not much can be done yet until nearer the time. we're off suit & wedding ring shopping on saturday, so that should be fun.

I was hoping to have a handmade, crafty wedding - i made the invites but they look terrible so ordered some off vistaprint. So i'm a little down, and had the thought of 'ah stuff it\' i wanna get married to be with my man, not with all the trimmings - however i feel i might regret the lack of effort nearer the day. I don't feel like the 'quality' of my work is up to scratch, and people might look upon my creations as rubbish.

Guess I just need a pick me up! any tips?

HI Sheree, We are making loads of bits as well, so know what you mean. Sometimes it works and other times it just goes to pot. Can you show us any bits or is there something you are really wanting to do and we may be able to help with a few tricks.

Well my friend made our bunting, my nanas making organza bows and swagging for the church, we're doing our own centrepeices and jars for tealights.

The invites went wrong, however these have been sorted. made our own confetti. I have order of services to do, but i'd like to print them onto tracing paper and roll them, tying them with pink ribbon, but i'm not sure how this would work? x

It can still be crafty and hadmade, just don't feel like you have to do it all yourself. Can you delegate some jobs to crafty friends and family. Can you get anyone over to your house to help you with projects and put some of the fun element back into it? I would be over the moon if someone thought I was artistic enough to help out with things.

Remember that sometimes the simplest ideas can be best so don't be too ambitious and it can look fab! Read the wedding blogs such as rockmywedding.co.uk for inspiration. Have a look at items on Etsy - you could always buy the things you really can't make yourself, but will still look 'crafty' and be handmade.

Have a look on Hobbycraft at their ideas library, there's some really simple but lovely ideas on there. Also try youtube for tutorials on how to make things so you have some instructions to follow.

I tend to make my own Christmas cards etc and sometimes I think they look a bit rough round the edges if you know what I mean! I always get lovely feedback though, people do appreciate the effort so don't worry that they will be sat thinking otherwise! Hope that helps ?

Things are definitely on the up, think that although things might not link up with a 'theme' i know my efforts are there and that's all that matters - plus my mans getting excited now Smiley laugh x
