£60,000 Puppy - Did anyone watch it?

DrBuffles, 15 April, 2014 at 15:09 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I watched this on catch up last night. It was a program on a competition run by a South Korean company giving a family in the UK the opportunity to clone their pet dog. It was fairly bizarre anyway but I thought it odd there were so many people that wanted to clone their dogs.

I love my puppy. I hate the thought of being without him now but I wouldn't ever clone him. It would feel weird knowing it was him but it wasn't at the same time. Also they had two dogs that had been cloned from the same 'parent' but both behaved very differently so it's not a case of having the same dog again so I don't really see the point.

Am I alone for thinking it's weird? Would you clone your pet given the opportunity?

Ditto! I love my cat and my dog and will be devestated when either of them passes away but i would NEVER want to clone them, that just seems weird!

No way! Yes it hurts when a pet passes away but you eventually cope with it and then move on. Cloning just seems weird, once that particular animal has gone that should be it. The pet will never be the same again, would just look the same.

I was with my cat Bee when she got put to sleep in October 2012. It was heartbreaking and took me literally about a year to fully get over it. I loved her to pieces, but after seeing her pass away there is no way I could ask for her to be living again. Does that make sense? Once they have passed away that is it, they are gone. Seeing her alive again would be weird. Struggling to explain!!

If I'm honest I don't see the point of it if the cloned animal only looks the same but doesn't behave the same.

Never ever. My cat has such a funny personality, he acts like a little person, although I will be devastated when he does pass away. I could have a similar looking cat but it wouldn't be him so I couldn't do it.

No, definitely don't like the idea of this at all. Very weird!

This. They might look the same but they wouldn't be the same. For example my kitten loves to have her tummy stroked and tries to jump on my back when l am emptying her litter tray. If l got her cloned l doubt the new her would do this.
