7 weeks to go + possible rogue wedding dress supplier

Mrs-HFA, 29 October, 2012 at 18:02 Posted on Planning 0 1

Can anyone help advise me please?

I ordered and paid for my dress (£450) through a 'company' which I believed to be reputable. I was told that the dress was made in America and shipped to this 'sole trader' of this company, and I would collect my dress from her, this week.

I had my dress measurements taken in August, and I believed my dress ordered at that time.

Via goold old FB I've discovered that numerous girls have had absolute nightmares with this supplier. Some have had their dresses arrive but are unfinished, wrong sizes, wrong styles. One girl who got married three weeks ago is STILL awaiting her dress, a girl who is due to get married on 10th November has been informed today that her dress has just reached the final stage of completion, with no date/time of it arriving.

I contacted the girl direct myself with my concerns and she has assured me my dress will be here in time for my wedding. When pushed for a date of arrival, she claims the 19th Nov and the 21st by the time it reaches me. This only leaves 4 weeks to my wedding day, if it even arrives by then.

I (stupidly) received no receipt or contract stating delivery dates (neither did any of the other customers that I've been in contact with). I have no clue as to where I stand with this.

I am fortunate that I am in the position to buy another dress from elsewhere, however where at this late stage is beyond me. Some of the girls have no more cash and therefore reliant on their dresses arriving in time and in good condition.

It seems these dresses are made in China, to which I wasn't informed of, and there's no mention of this on her website. If I wanted a real cheap Chinese dress I would've gone through ebay directly!

Can anyone please help advise me what to do???? I am naturally reluctant to wait till the 22nd Nov in the hope that it arrives.

How did you pay, did you use your credit card you may be covered if she doesn't deliver. Ring round and see if any dress shops around you can sell you a sample, there is enough time to get one of those altered by their seamstress.

We paid by bank transfer for both the deposit and balance, I'm just worried with no receipt, where do I stand in terms of delivery date?
