8 days to go - a few *flashes*

Mrs Monkey, 11 July, 2013 at 09:26 Posted on Planning 0 6

So with 8 days to go I felt like doing a self indulgent flash - to help me get excited.

It's just a small family wedding with 22 people for the ceremony and 19 for the reception. Me, my Mum and my two bridesmaids (my sisters) will go to Dartmouth, Devon early, where we'll get our hair and make-up done and then get dressed. Then we'll catch the foot ferry across the river to Kingswear, where we'll meet the guests and all catch the steam train to Churston Station. We get married in the station booking hall, then have snacks and photos on the platform. We catch the steam train back to Kingswear and then cruise up the River Dart on a boat.

This is the first view of the steam train that my guests will have and this will be our private carriage

This is the boat we'll be on for the evening

We've gone for a black and white theme (well ivory in most cases) because black is my favourite colour. It doesn't really bother me that we're having a summer wedding with black (though all the oh dear and funeral comments I could have done without!)

These are the invites I made. I only had to make 8 but it took just over 8 hours! A bit too much of a perfectionist I think. The save the dates and thank you cards are in the same style but a bit shorter.

I made the bouquets using wire and feathers. I got the idea off the internet and was really happy with the result. Mine is the white one and my two bridesmaids are having the black ones.

This is similar to what we'll have as our mini cakes, with one large version to cut up and share with people not at our wedding. We will probably not have a 'lid' and just have mostly black with a white bow.

I've got him a box full of goodies to give him on our wedding day. It has groom boxers, groom socks, pick and mix sweets, love hearts, chocolate hobnobs and a version of the picture below that I made myself (with advice from the lovely hitched people) I made my own one using card from our invites, the same font as our invites, wire from the bouquets, matching tag to our place cards and a black frame that will match one with our fingerprint tree in and a photo of us.

I just have to get past saturday (I will be losing my job for the second time this year!) and then it will be all go, go, go, with ironing, baking, sorting and transporting.

Thanks Hitchers for all your advice, help and ideas. It's been fun Smiley smile
