Well done you, that's a real achievement! How long were you a smoker for? Oh and more to the point what pretty thing are you going to buy yourself with the money you saved? ?

    That's fantastic! I found this which show's you're already on the way to getting a healthy body back & it might be good as well to look at if it gets tough;

After 20 minutes of not smoking:

Your blood pressure and pulse decrease
The temperature of your hands and feet increases

After 8 hours of not smoking:

The carbon monoxide level in your blood returns to normal
Oxygen levels in your blood increase

After 24 hours of not smoking:

Your chance of heart attack decreases

After 48 hours of not smoking:

Your nerve endings adjust to the absence of nicotine
Your ability to taste and smell begins to return

After 72 hours of not smoking:

    Bronchial tubes relax

After 2 weeks to 3 months of not smoking:

    Your circulation improves
    Your exercise tolerance improves

After 1-9 months of not smoking:

Coughing, sinus congestion, fatigue, and shortness of breath decrease
Cilia in the lungs regrow, increasing the ability of the lungs to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce infection
    Your overall energy level increases

After 1 year of not smoking:

Your risk of dying from heart disease decreases to half that of a lifelong smoker's risk

After 5 years of not smoking:

Your risk of dying from lung cancer decreases to half that of a lifelong smoker's risk

After 10 years of not smoking

Your risk of dying from lung cancer drops to almost the same rate as a lifelong NON-smoker
Your risk of other cancers, such as cancer of the mouth, larynx, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas decreases

Congratulations - I'm on two weeks and 2 days of no smoking - but I am doing it cold turkey at the moment and I have been surprised at how easy I have found it.

    Nice one!

I was a heavy 20-30 a day until I got pregnant in April 07. I''m so so so pleased I don't smoke anymore. Keep at it, it's for the best! x

Good luck and a really well done to all of those of you who have stopped for any length of time

i smoked at least 20 a day -more if it was a weekend. And, started when i was about 18. I made the decision that I did not want to have a single wedding photo of me with fag in hand.. I stopped July 05 in time to have stopped for Sept 05 and haven't had one since. The down side is that my health has not seen any benefit; my asthma has got worse. I need my inhalers much more since stopping smoking but have been advised by my GP that this isn't that unusual???!!

    anyone else had this problem

Chantix is one of those FDA approved drugs which can be used to get over smoking habit. It works on body by giving you the same feel good effect like smoking and hence reduces the craving for nicotine. You can have all the information on chantix here http://www.chantixhome.com/ This medicine should only be used in accordance with the instructions of a physician as there are various side effects which may vary from person to person and it includes change of taste, sleeplessness and many more. I have smoked for more than 10 yrs, but now I am spending a smoke free life from last 2 months. Thanks to chantix. Along with having this medicine, you should also have will power and feeling that you want to get over this habit.
