A chance to shine - what have you made yourself that you are most proud of?

FutureMrsRon, 25 February, 2011 at 14:04 Posted on Planning 0 45

A nice happy thread for a Friday afternoon!

What have you DIY'ed for your wedding that you're most proud of/didn't think you could do/think will get the best compliments on the day etc etc?

So far for me, it's got to be my shoes ? I've flashed them millions of times so I must be happy lol

The photo always comes out massive lol

I'm also really pleased with my flowers but haven't arranged them into a bouquet yet or even thought about what I want the finished thing to look like, so no photos yet

Anyway, here's your chance to show off!! Flash me your best bits ?

Lovely shoes!! I gave up on mine as I didn't have the patience.

I haven't really made a lot myself, but I am pleased with how I customised my ring cushion.

I don't really like ring cushions, but I received a (rather unfetching) one as a gift which I felt obliged to use so I modified it with red ribbon and red roses (it originally had peach ones!!).

I too would be interested in photobooth props - an ebay search proved fruitless!!

I want some little signs with arrows that say stuff like "I'm with the drunk one" etc. But can't exactly find them so may have to get crafty too!

They're brilliant ? I love the idea of having a photobooth but it's definitely on the 'would-like-to-have-if-we've-got-a-spare-£400' list at the moment!! How are you setting up your own? I'm a bit worried about the safety of my camera if I just leave it out for people to snap away with!

@ Vikster, thanks for the flash - I did think of some simple chalk boards and some really large photoframes - but going to have to traul the carboots for one of those as don't want to spend a fortune on that.

We went to a wedding that had silly hats, feather boas, glasses etc but that could be a real nightmare!

Lightmachine - our TOG is doing a "fun" photobooth style set up in the evening at our venue so i am just going to provide some simple funnies if needed. Wont be spending a fortune, hoping to do it quite cheaply.

I ordered vistaprint cards and made our invite pocket things myself, im crystal-ing my shoes tonight although i'm only doing the heel and maybe a the odd sparkle at the front as they kind of have slight pleats in the front so will put one at the top (IYSWIM) im also planning on doing the table plan too. I wanted a wishing well and H2B said 'no way are we paying for that i could make it myself' so i said go on then! He is very good at things like this though.

I bought the dress (monsoon outlet bargain) and then altered it. The pearls and bow and trails are all mine, and the straps were altered too.

Thank you for saying nice things about it - I'm the worst person for dress envy of other people's expensive creations!

Dress is gorgeous! It is like what i originaly wanted and I ended up falling for a bigger skirt but i think that always happens doesnt it! How can you keep it ion the spare room?

    Has H2b not peeked???

I will flash my sparkly shoes if i don't ruin them, they wont be as good as lightmachines but i will do my best!

The pearl jewlery is lovely too! You should go into business!! I went to a bead shop last weekend as thought of doing this but it was £12 for one small pack of pearl beads so changed my mind! Getting a bit tight with my money now!

I get my crystals from miss.diamante on eBay, and the tool I've got is called a Kandi Kane wand - I just put hotfix wand into the eBay search and it was about £16.95. The crystals are £8 for 1440 - I'll use about 3 bags to complete the pair.

Thank you. I think I would have liked a bigger skirt but this dress is proper silk and was such abragain I couldn;t resist. I have made an underskirt with several layers of tulle that give he skirt a bit more weight and structure.

It lives in the spare room under a large duvet cover. Don't think H2B has looked....!

What lovely things people have made. Am so impresed by invitations etc. We are making our own Orders of Service and they are ok - but pretty amateurish looking! Don;t really mind though - everyone knows we are the bargain basement of weddings and that's fine!

Sorry, wouldnt let me put it all on one post! I did a row of pearls along the back of the shoe then crystals down the heel. Really couldnt get the camera to show the sparkle but they look nicer in real life! I also put a few on the front but im thinking they may come off as the shoe moves there but as long as they stay on for a bit i dont really mind! I did get impatient though and ended up buying some self adhesive ones that i saw in a cheap little shop today (only £1!!) as I couldnt wait to order the ebay ones but I might order them and do full sparkle shoes for my hen night too!
