A Classic - how often do you wash your bras?

shoegal01, 3 September, 2010 at 14:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 39

It just dawned on me today i think that the last time the bra i am wearing today had a wash was about 2 weeks ago!

I dont understand those who wash theirs everyday.

Surely you only need to wash it if its dirty or if it smells? its not like boobs get dirty or sweaty often is it -well mine dont!?

how often do you wash yours?

    You stirring it up Shoey??

I wash mine after each wear (not that I have sweaty or dirty boobs I'd like to add), and would put a clean bra on after a shower in the evening if I was heading out too!

If it's only been on a few hours I might wear it again but I generally wear and wash.

Is it just you and me here this afternoon??

I probably have about 30 bras but about 8 of them are strapless so wouldn't wear them on a daily basis. I have around 10 'favourites' that I choose to wear first and then another few that I'd wear if we needed the washing done.

I have a ridiculous amount of clothing and this includes underwear. I would probably estimate my knicker drawer (yep, they need their own drawer) to contain about 50 pairs. And I don't think I'd be overestimating.

    I have a clothing problem!

Selection! Who knows when you'll need a white, black, nude, pink or whatever colour one! Different outfits need different bras!

Plus, when you buy a new bra you need the matching thong and shorts with it! (Hence more knickers than bras, though plain bras don't always need the matching bottom half!!)

And yep, definately have a shopping addiction! Quite happy to admit to that one. ?

<Searches desperately for someone to back her up...>

There are probably a few at the back that don't fit me but I wouldn't buy a bra without trying it on first. Generally chuck them out when they don't fit now though.

You can get sets in La Senza for under £20 so I like to treat myself - once a month probably?

Hahhaa! You will be proud of me Rae - my undercrackers are brand new AND they match. I don't think he'll work out how to undo my dress anyway so he's got no chance of seeing them!

Aah yes, the romantic undressing on the wedding night...

Me: Undo the bow at the bottom. Now loosen it. More. More. More. Now, there are poppers on one side, they need unpopping. Next, there are two things that look like bra straps that need undoing. Now, you lift the dress and I'll go under. Higher. Higher... Done!

Those that wear a few times before washing - how do you keep track of how many times you've worn each bra or do you just do a job lot wash at a weekend??

I have no idea. I may look at a bra and think "oh, I think I have been wearing that one for a couple of days now" and shove it in the wash basket. I swap and change my bras though depending on what I am wearing (so nude under white tops and black under black etc.) so I wouldn't necessarily wear the same bra everyday but then I wouldn't wash them after each wear either. I would say on average I wear a bra 3 times before it goes in the wash. I only have about 5 bras at the moment.

I wash mine after each use and wash them by hand. It really does not take a lot of time to wash one bra a night in a little bit of water and washing powder and then I just stick them on the drying rack, they keep their shape much better if handwashed and the wires are less likely to pop out of the sides.

I only wash my bra's every few days. I generally just shove them in whenever I'm doing a dark load of washing (mine are all black at the moment!) and actually sometimes in with the sheets / towels as they don't run.

I've never ever handwashed any bras. It just wouldn't occur to me actually!

Wish I could get a set for that price! I wash mine about once a week ?, more often if it's been really hot. I only own 3 bras that fit ? A decent bra that fits me best costs on average £25-£40 and if I want the matching knickers they are another £10 at least!I thnk La Senza do my size but they don't fit me properly so I usually end up going to Bravissimo. WIth wedding saving for the last 2 yrs I havent been able to afford to buy many new bras. I also went up 1 bra size 2 months before the wedding, hence me only owning 3!

As a lady with large boobs (36G) I find it hard to buy bras at a cheap price - e.g. under £30, so am unable to buy very many. At the moment I have 4 bras - and I am handwashing them to make sure that they last as long as possible.

I don't have matching pants because that would be at least another £10 put on the price.

As for washing, I tend to wear each bra for a few days and then wash it. Sometimes it is a little longer.

With three small kids finding time to go and buy bras is difficult as well - so I buy a couple when I need them and they have to last me.

Sorry Trickers, my posts weren't meant to be gloating or anything... I am lucky, I suppose, that I can get good, reasonably priced underwear. Never thought about how much other peoples may cost (and would probably be quite wierd if I did!). Believe me when I say I am a complete bargain hunter and hoarder to boot!

There's a business venture for someone then. Reasonable larger bras!

Phew! I do just take it for granted though that I can walk into La Senza / Debenhams / wherever and pick up a bra in my size for £10 or so though and it doesn't seem fair that this isn't the case for everyone... Let's get Gok onto it! 😆

    ETA: http://www.lasenza.co.uk/dd/level2.aspx?d=21&size=36G

All bra sizes in their 'everyday bra range' only £10 if that helps anyone looking?!

I think I own about 8 bra's some are waaaaay past their best, but I still wear them. I don't particularly like buying them either as I'm a stinge-bag and think most of them are over priced for what they are.

I wear mine 3 days max - unless I've been to the gym in which case I'll change it...I know I'm a minger, but I'm not that bad!

I never buy white or cream bra's only flesh colour as I hate the lines you get under lighter coloured tops, I do have black, pink and brown though too.
