A few **flashes** of DuckyBum's DIY wedding at home (and a Windmill)

We don't have any professional pictures yet, so these are just what family and friends have snapped. I promise to flash the TOG pics in my report.

At the Windmill:

OH had no idea who this man was. Neither of us knew about the chimney sweep, OH thought he was the caretaker and wondered why he gave us a card!

Back at the house:

Starting to look a little chilly and worse for wear here, the last of us left the marquee at 5am!

The finished fingerprint tree, everyone was fab, no one even had to ask them to do it!

    I vaguely remember reading that if you see a chimney sweep after your wedding it is thought to be good luck. Obviously we don't have many chimney sweeps wandering the streets these days, so as a surprise my Mum hired a guy who dresses up as one.

    When I saw him, I thought ooooooh a chimney sweep, he came over to say hello and wish us luck and gave us a card. OH was like 'why didn't the caretaker just sign the card the windmill gave us?' He had no clue whatsoever. I had to explain he wasn't a caretaker...

    My dress was second hand. I couldn't find anything perfect in the shops, so decided to go second hand and with the saved money MAKE it perfect. ALthough I had tried this dress on in the shop, so knew I liked it and what size was the best fit pre-alterations.

    The original dress is Essense of Australia D0143 (shown here courtesy of google)



    Ok you probably can't even notice any difference! haha. However, I had the shape and boning altered to be more 'nipped in' at the waist and some of the pleats released so the skirt was fuller and more free-flowing. I also had the lace straps made and added. My dress felt perfect for me in the end, exactly what I was after, although perhaps not the simplest of ways to buy a dress!

    Congratulations - love the photos and you both look amazing! I've been to Cley Windmill quite a few times and love that area. Glad to see the chimney sweep for good luck is coming back into fashion! They were very popular in the 60's but then with the invention of central heating, a lot of chimney sweeps went out of business Smiley sad Some used to turn up with a black cat too which is double the good luck!
