A gift for the groom?

Sparkle2015, 15 April, 2015 at 14:22 Posted on Planning 0 11

I am just ordering the favours and it got me thinking. Has anyone got something for their new husband? I like the idea of giving him something, but no idea what really?

Hmm so this is a toughie....

I want to send my H2B a little gift for the morning of the wedding be we already have evrything we need as such.

So im going to do a little hamper thing

As of yet im going to include

Tissues, cause he will cry Smiley smile

a watch. so he gets there on time. i mini bottle of something to help him shake off the nerves.

Socks - to take away any cold feet.

    and a little love letter.

    Smiley smile

maybe i will add things to it but i have plenty of time.

I think it will be a little bit more thoughtful rather than just 1 gift as such. Smiley smile

    HTH

    xx

I have just got a few little bits. Socks for cold feet, a bottle of whisky and a box of cigars for him and the groomsmen and a boudoir photoshoot picture for his eyes only Smiley smile and a letter for him to read on the morning.

I may pick up more bits as I go along, but maybe that's given you some ideas Smiley smile

I had very little left in the budget for this, so I just got him some fragrance to wear on the day and a tin of groom mints (from NOTHS). And a card. I liked the idea of an engraved watch but couldn't run to it in the end.

H2b is refusing to countenance any and all gifts on the day. No gifts for each other, no gifts for ushers/best man, no gifts for bridesmaids (we are paying for the bridal party outfits and the girls' hair and makeup, though). I don't get why at all, except that he says he's ush'd and been best man multiple times and never been given a gift, so it won't be expected. I have put my foot down and said we have to buy gifts for our parents though, as they are financing the wedding. I did want to get him a little something for the morning, but I don't think I will as he won't appreciate it!! I am going to buy thank you cards for everyone involved on the day though, and will give him a card too.

I'm doing the hamper idea. So far I've got him a bottle of whisky, his favourite aftershave and a funny t-shirt. I'm thinking about some kind of voucher as well and then a few other bits like his favourite chocolate.

I am in the "not in the budget" camp, however, i did come across this during one of my many web searches for random stuff... i think i'll be leaving him one of these on the day:

My OH's best friend is an illustrator, he does a lot of drawings in children books so I have asked him to do a picture of our dog in his style, its very unique. I just love that its of our dog and drawn by his bestest friend...and he's not charging me Smiley smile

As a future groom myself, the hamper sounds like a good idea. Add in some breath mints.

    Hi

I am doing a little box my groom to open in the morning two, up to now it has a groom survival kit which I bought of eBay, socks, jack Daniels and coke ready mixed, a picture of me and him a little newspaper article I wrote about our wedding day little bits really!

I have also bought him a flying lesson which I will give him on the night of our wedding!

The mints idea is fab, I will be adding some to my box! ☺️ X

My husband gave me a sketch of my dress and his suit from My Dreamlines. It was a great gift to us both. Smiley smile

Probably no need to bump two separate threads with the same post, eh?
