A little help please? *Flash*

Future Mrs Gough, 10 June, 2011 at 19:54 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi all,

Having a difficult time choosing between 2 BM dresses like I like. And would really welcome people's opinions please. Fell free to be honest. I won't be offended. Thanks in advance x

Out of the two I prefer the first one. What colour would you be having?

I prefer number 1 but TBH I'd like it better if the skirt was fishtail or straight rather than gathered (sorry don't know the technical term!).

    What is your dress like?

Your bridesmaids would be lucky to have either.

    They are both lovely.

Prefer style of number 2, but think its because it looks a bit wedding dress stylee.

Skirt on number 1 is really funky and unusual though which is nice. Not too fond of the shape at the top and i think it would be less flattering than number 2

Can I be honest? I don't like either and personally don't think they compliment your dress. Your gown is very sleek and I don't think the ruffles of the 1st or the froof of the 2nd go at all. Just my opinion though, I personally would go for a very simple full length gown. Sorry if I sound mean, thats not my intention xx

I definitely prefer the first dress but not sure on the ruffles, perhaps a straighter bottomed skirt would compliment your dress better. I know my terminology of the word 'straighter' was awful! Hoping you know what I mean.

    WSS.

Your dress is very elegant, with so much detail I think your dress choices might overwhelm that, iyswim?

Haha!! I get what u mean tho. Its just so hard tho cos all my BMs are different shapes and sizes so its hard to find something that they all suit. And plus they all want and suit dresses that don't go straight down IYGWIM.

Thanks for all ur opinions tho ladies ?

Out of the 2 dresses I prefer the black one but with your dress I think the first is nicer. The dress in black might need a hoop for it to sit right and I think that makes it look more like a wedding dress.

I was lucky that i only had 2 bridesmaids and they were both easily pleased. I went with these in the end from Marks and Spencers online and at a bargain price too. I know they arent too everyones taste but they look lovely on and go beautifully with our 'theme' and colours.

I'm sure you will know when you find the right ones 🙂

WSS too I'm afraid. My BMs very kindly (and they were all very different shapes/sizes as you see!) went for a very complimentary dress to mine:

which was Alfred Angelo 7027 (without beads and with straps added) as it gathered up to one side like mine did. And was amazingly flattering. I just think that the styles you have shown us are very "statement" and might detract a bit from your dress - which I love by the way! - and you are the one everyone will be looking at! So I would go for something a bit simpler. If you are paying, it's your choice ultimately!! ?
