Honestly it will go so fast, we got engaged xmas day 2010 and are getting married 31st march 2012, we had 15 months to wait from when we booked it and it felt like a lifetime but i promise it soon pounces on you!! I feel like i am running out of time to arrange things now and have just arranged my trials etc so it is all becoming very real. x

I keep saying this to my OH.

We have only booked the venue and registar!! Need to meet with venue to see if they are providing food or if we are going to go with caterer's.

Not decided if I am having bridesmaids yet or just flowergirls.

I am really disorganised compared to the rest of you.

    xx

I haven't done ANYTHING - even chosen a specific date or venue!! OH and I have promised ourselves that after we move house, we will begin.... to be fair, we did only get engaged on Christmas Day so it has only been a week!

I have chosen my dress, though.... ?

I have been saying this too, very exciting :-)

I haven't booked a thing yet and we have been engaged for almost a year too. We know where (Positano, Italy) and sort of when (April/May 2013). We will be able to set a date later this month hopefully as that's when the town hall have advised us to contact them again. Once we have a date we will then be thinking about travel plans/villas/hotels/guest list/reception etc etc.

I think I am going to go with a 50s style tea-length dress... haven't tried any on yet but I think I'm quite a bit older than most brides on here and it will be the right choice for me! Still, plenty of time to change my mind!

I REALLY need to get on with putting my house up for sale and moving... but can't seem to get off the computer, looking at wedding venues, not houses to live in!!!

No problem. It's only a secret until OH actually pops the question! Which hopefully won't be long but we've already decided that 2013 is the best time for us. Once we're officially engaged, we'll start planning properly. At the moment, I'm just scouting out venues and getting an idea of costs etc. We're doing it a bit backwards but oh well! ?

Why are you planning in secret Zoeah?

Same as you really, he hasn't "officially" asked (we know we want to get married and when) and so we've decided to plan everything how we want it (our families both tend to get too involved and we'd end up agreeing to things we wouldn't want just to avoid arguments) so for the next 9 months we're planning as much as possible how we want it and then he's going to "officially" ask and we'll let everybody else know. The only person who knows is the lovely lady at our venue who is planning it all with us, aparently we're not the only people that do it this way!!!

Fingers crossed! I know he's looking at rings but waiting till he finds out what bonus he's getting so I reckon I've got 2 or 3 months to wait still!

That sounds like a good plan Zoeah! Luckily I don't think we'll have too much trouble from our families but I can understand wanting to avoid it all. Where is your venue?

It'll be nice to see your plans!! I embarrassed myself on NYE after one too many voddies by crying with excitement and saying to randomers 'I'm getting married... NEXT YEAR!' Heehee!

    So far:

    Ceremony venue booked, deposit paid.

Reception venue booked, no deposit needed as the owners of the pub/restaurant we're holding it in are great friends. They are also covering a 2 course sit down meal (at usual restaurant prices so £11.95 per head, woo!) with their award winning chef, their usual DJ who is charging us £100 for the whole night (woo again!) a free bouncy castle for our 3 kids and any kids attending. Wine for the tables and a hot & cold evening buffet. H2B will be staying there the night before in their chalets at half price (£20 instead of £49.95) and they have given us a chalet there at the end of the reception for free, oh and Mike, the owner has agreed to MC for us!

Smooch appointment booked for Jan 30th

    ...and that's it!

Next 2 on the list are TOG and Shoot it Yourself - I want them both booked ASAP

Registrar can't be booked until 12 months ahead so hands are tied on that one I've also actively started looking at dresses online but realistically won't be going to appointments until spring/summer.

Planning to make my own invites and STD's - STD's will be going out in this years Christmas card post (August 4th wedding) so won't be made for a few months yet.

Changed my mind on colour schemes about 20 times ?

Having my daughter and 2 step-daughters as BM's. My daughter is 17, H2B's are currently 7 and 11 and will be 9 and 13 by the wedding so pointless doing anything about their dresses yet as there is so much growing to do!

Not too much done but the reception stuff is a big weight off my mind, it's all completely under control by our friends and we needn't worry!

Wow you are so lucky to have such kind friends!! Why can't any of my friends own a reception venue! Heehee. I'm not getting my BM dresses til the last min either, they will invariably change shape with diets etc... x

The only problem I am finding about wedding planning is that I am not doing other things!

I have to assignments for uni, one due in next week (2500 words) and I have written 450 . . . . opppps!

The shiney engagement ring distracts me and then i think of the wedding, then end up on google looking up wedding things!!
