A productive afternoon's favour making *flash*

Well, we planned some months ago that, on our holiday this week, we'd sort out putting the favours together. Just as well, as it's been a dreadful few days of weather and it doesn't look like it's going to change in the near future. I don't mind listening to the sea but I'd rather not be listening...

Well, we planned some months ago that, on our holiday this week, we'd sort out putting the favours together. Just as well, as it's been a dreadful few days of weather and it doesn't look like it's going to change in the near future. I don't mind listening to the sea but I'd rather not be listening to it on the roof.

Anyway, we're now 1/3 through our task so i thought I'd flash the first 50 as I know people like that sort of thing.

The basic ingredients - health (sugared almonds), wealth (a mint), happiness (love hearts), longevity (long life milk - a long story), fertility (aster seeds, September's flower)

My b2b rolling some labels on the love hearts

Close up of the labels I made.

Me dividing up the seeds into 140 small bags.

My b2b tying the ribbon and label around the top of the bags.

Sit back and admire the handywork - the first 50.

A close up of one assembled favour.

Hope you like. We'll be finishing the other 100 during the rest of the week, weather not permitting us doing anything more exciting.

    Selsey.

The bad weather picture was yesterday - and it's just started raining again here.

It didn't Smiley smile But we're off out now to the evening's entertainment - we have (after Buster Bunny's jungle adventure show and the bingo) "Rock Swings" (classic rock songs with a swing Sinatra twist), vocalist Russ Evison, followed by a Michael Jackson tribute (then a disco till close). Probably drop by the arcade and lose a few quid on the 2p machines on the way.

Thanks to a token that dropped from the 2p machine, we won a stuffed toy duck, dressed as a nun. What more can anyone want...?

Just not quite sure of how to fit it in to the wedding theme.

Oh you absolutely have to include it in the wedding somehow! Also I think we need a photo. It sounds amazing and I am a teeny bit jealous.

Impressive work with the favours, that finished pile is huge! I wonder what the full 150 will look like?

Perhaps I should take a moment to clarify that it was the duck that is dressed as a nun - we weren't dressed as nuns when we won it.

    Finished! 140 completed favours.

    Laid out on the table.

A different angle, which is a little more effective.

With us, in context to give an idea of size

They're now safely packed away in two Walkers Crisps boxes - and they're full.

Oh, and for those that asked, our nun duck from last night.

Wow! you have been busy - I never thought they'd be finished already!

They are a veritable hill of favours Smiley smile

PS I bought some Schloer for the first time in the supermarket today because it was on offer and I remember you saying something good about it - I got the rosé one and it's lovely! I'll be having some more of that Smiley smile

We expected it to take a bit longer too but the weather has been pretty naff most of the day so we've stayed in doing that. Quite a mountain indeed, and I must work out some time how much it all cost but I reckon it's well under a pound each thanks to the 'value pack' organza etc we got hold of.

Yes, we're having shloer for our sparkly toast drink as we wanted to stick with non alcoholic (although the bar is open for any guests that wish to buy their own). Unfortunately we couldn't get hold of the rose one (our supplier didn't stock it) as that's the one we wanted too, so we went with the white grape one in the end. We have about 60 bottles of the stuff waiting to go down to our venue - it's in the caretakers cupboard at work and he's bringing it down in the car in the morning so it's one thing we don't need to worry about - hopefully!

    Loving the nun duck!!!

Good schloer recommendation too, think we'll go for the rose one for our non-alcoholic after the ceremony drink.

Oh - favours look good too! ?

Neither of us are really 'crafty' people but having seen what others have done here, worked out what we wanted to do and how we were going to do it, we just sat down and got on with it, and although it was time consuming we are glad we did it with 2 months to go and not left it till the last minute.

Glad we've encouraged others to 'get on with it' - I know those sort of jobs can be a bit overwhelming and intimidating if you aren't really 'into that sort of thing' but certainly my b2b has surprised herself how much she enjoyed it, and between us a little production line with some good music and chocolate, we rattled through it and now have the rest of our holiday - weather permitting - to enjoy.
