Hi all,
Well I think I'm about recovered from the big day. I was soooo exhausted that I was in bed at about 5pm last night. We had the best day EVER!! It was so perfect despite one car breaking down (it was supposed to be carrying my BMs but it was soon rectified with another car), 2 buttons popping off my Dad's waistcoat, one button popping off the bestmans waistcoat and me forgetting to get photos with my friends on the night. There's always things that are forgotten but nothing major. So here is an ever so brief report as I'll do a more indepth one when I have more time. I also only have a few photos off my sister's phone so I can't show you lots yet.
Well, Friday we all gathered at my Mam and Dad's house (Mam, Dad, sis, bro in law, niece, nephew, me, hubby) and had 'the last supper' - pizzas. Hubby then went home to our house and I stayed at my Mam's. My 3 year old niece told me she was staying with me that night so we shared her double bed. She was hyper until midnight when I laid down and she told me she loved me and wanted snuggles. So I laid there for ages on a quarter of the bed before I decided to move her over to get some more room. At about 5am Emily got really fidgety and couldn't breathe because of a stuffy nose. Then at about 6am I gave it trying to sleep after Emily told me it was the wedding day and we laid there talking. 6.30am we went to wake my Mam and Dad up and started to get ready. My sister came round at about 7.30am and me, sis, Mam and Emily went to the hairdressers. Hairs and nails all done we went back home to sausage sarnies made by Dad and the makeup lady there. My best friend and BM came round and we all started getting ready. The cars arrived at 11.30am but I was still in my underwear so had to quickly get ready and pack my back for Sunday morning. I nearly forgot to pack clothes until my friend reminded me!!
So, into the cars, I was feeling okay as we all giggled at the fact I couldn't fit in the car for all my dress layers. We travelled half of the 25ish miles in modern cars and me and Dad swapped to a classic car and the BMs jumped into the new, white BMW we were travelling in (they were supposed to be travelling in a classic but it broke down). All of the cars were owned by friends of my OH. It was only now that I started to get a bit nervous. As we got to just round the corner from the church I felt a few tears welling but managed to control myself.
This was it, we were at the church. The tog took a few shots of my trying to get out of the car, I took hold of my beautiful bouquet and we made our way into the lobby of the church. My heart was racing as we stood there behind closed doors. Our friend and chaplain told us to take 2 deep breathes down to our belly buttons, to which I replied I couldn't because my dress was so tight!! The doors opened, I saw my future hubby at the alter and a sea of smiling faces. As we walked down my Dad had to tell me to slow down and I couldn't stop beaming. I reached the alter, gave a little smile to my OH and the fabulous service began.
The service was wonderful and the only hitch was OH's friend's daughter making a bit of a racket so her dad took her out, we couldn't stop giggling. Oh and, OH put my ring on the wrong way round! My longest running friend read a bible passage and I struggled not to cry. It was only when we got half way through the service I suddenly thought 'ooo ek, I'm getting married'. Then it was all over and we were pronounced married, nobody clapped so I gave a little 'woo' which prompted people!
While we were getting photos taken, the tog kept telling hubby to stand next to his wife which was wierd. So the rest of the day went fantastically well (I'll elaborate in detail later) and we had much merriment on the evening. The sweetie trolly hubby made went down extrememly well and the food was gorgeous although I couldn't eat much as my dress was still too tight. I ended up ripping lots of the net on my hoop through all the dancing I did.
I was exhausted at the end of the night and after everyone left there was just me, hubby and his best man tidying up. I just stood in the middle of the floor and began to cry. Best man asked what was wrong and I said that everything had gone so perfectly and I didn't know what to do now. He pulled out a chair and told me to sit down and relax! Great advice. I ended up crying to our singer/disco man as well. I think everything was just so perfect I couldn't believe it.
It was great to have some time alone with hubby when we got to our room. We ended up not getting to sleep until about 2am as I wanted to open all our cards and pressies. Some people were extremely generous in their gifts.
So yesterday we packed everything into many cars and went home. I've no idea who has what! At 1pm we got back into our wedding getup to go for a photoshoot at Penshaw Monument where we got engaged, man it was cold!! I ended up going to bed at about 5pm as I was exhaused. Now to wait for all the photos.
Not the best report in the world but I wanted to get things written down before I forgot some of it. Now for some pics...........
