A very boring question - Ironing boards

*Ducky*, 15 May, 2013 at 14:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

Recommend me one! Or features to look for.

I've never had an ironing board, I've just used a towel on the floor (our old place had no where to store an ironing board).

We got one from Lidl, it's a bit wider than a normal one and has an inbuilt socket, so you can plus the iron into that, and then the board plugs into the wall. Ideal if you don't have a long flex on the iron.

You've never used an ironing board? ?

I'd just go for any one. Doesn't necesarily have to be expensive. Mine was a cheapy from Argos and have had it for YEARS and it's fine. It's only the covers you need to replace every now and then.

Just to add, although this is a good ironing board, it gets used as little as possible as I hate ironing. Currently I have a pile waiting that is about 6/7 weeks old

I used an ironing board when I lived at home, about 7 years ago.

Then I never had one of my own son would either not iron, or use a towel on the floor.

Now I find myself ironing bed sheets and curtains and it would be MUCH easier if I had a board!

General consensus is they are all pretty standard! I'll probably get one from The Range later today. Woohoo!

This is to sound weird but it's worth checking the height of it. I'm quite tall and find some cheapy ones too low so they make my back ache leaning over it. We got ours in tesco I think and its been great had it about 4 years and not even had to change the cover

We've got a Brabantia ironing board and it's fab (well as fab as an ironing board can be!).

The cover is nice & thick and it's sturdy too.

It's not cheap but we've currently had it 3 years and it's still going strong (think ours was from Makro).

Who has the time to iron sheets?? Although my MIL irons underpants so...

Ours was a cheapy John Lewis one we got on the gift list. Have used it once since then... Have about 10 shirts of hubbys to iron, I reckon he has 5 ironed ones left before I need to panic. (you can tell I married a farmer!)
