A Wee Dilemma...

Steelgoddess, 28 November, 2009 at 09:46 Posted on Planning 0 9

Ok so I have found my venue (I think im 95% sure) Its a lovely little hotel in Bickley: http://www.bickleymanor.co.uk/

I love the grounds and the rooms etc , but unsure on the honeymoon suite/rooms etc,

Unsure what to do and its really bugging me like an itch which won't go away

Also I can't find anyone who has had a wedding there to talk to although I have read good reviews etc...

What do you not like about them? How very important are they to you?

Do you plan to just spend the wedding night there or the night before too?

Hi Steel - your link doesn't work.

I think its a priority thing - how important are the rooms to you? most people would just crash after the wedding so I don't think it makes that much of a difference - how bad can they be? Its not travelodge level, is it? I say - if you like all the important elements that all your guests will see etc - go for it.

you can always google for reviews as well - what's the name of the hotel?

I think they are quite nice rooms looking at them- certainly not modern but if you are getting ready there then certainly picture friendly!

Aha I see it now - they do look quite basic - but I would think good enough unless you absolutely hate them...

At weddings there isn't much time spent in the rooms so I wouldn't worry too much about that. If you like everything thing else about the venue and this is the only thing then I don't think its a problem.

I would go and see some other venues in the meantime as you don't seem to be 100% sure on this one.

There was someone earlier this year who got married/had her reception at the bickley manor - she was wearing exactly the same dress as the other bride who was having her reception there! they both thought it was hilarious and it got in the local news shopper.

she was obviously happy with it, but i'd think about whether you would be happy about having another wedding reception going on at the same time as yours?

in terms of the actual hotel rooms, you might want to think about how many of your guests are actually going to stay there overnight. if it's not many, is it going to be that much of a problem? plus, they don't spend much time in there? i guess it's just about what your priority is - the reception rooms and where you get married or your guests being comfortable.

if you are looking for a venue in the bromley area, have you thought about the bromley court hotel? the bull's head hotel in chislehurst?

I fell in love with my venue, Missenden Abbey in Buckinghamshire. The honeymoon suite is nothing special but ok for the night as we will be too tired and only in the room a short time, and the guest rooms are basic but clean, prob travel lodge ish but to be honest how long will your guests be in their rooms for? and you? You have got to work out what is more important to you.

For us the venue, room we get married in and whole feeling of the place matters more than our guest accomodation....they will prob have had far too much to drink by the time they get back to their rooms they wont care!! x
