A "wheelie" important POLL

gill670, 29 September, 2009 at 20:08 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I need to do a bit of market research and couldn't think of anyone better to ask than you honest lot _ so here goes

Do you have a wheelie bin or rec ycling boxes?

Do you have them cleaned and disinfected professionally

If you do - how often

how much do you pay per bin

If you dont - would you

How much would you pay

Would you be interested in getting your wheelie bin cleaned and disinfected professionally after the bin men have emptied them?

Many thanks ladies(and gents) and we look forward to seeing what your thoughts are!

    Hi Gill

We have 1 bin for non recycling, 1 bin for recycling, 1 box for bottles

We have our non recycling wheelie bin cleaned professionally once a month (they go out fortnightly). I think we pay £3 per month, because we buy a year up front

We have one wheelie bin, 4 black boxes for recycling

I don't want the wheelie bin, I preferred leaving bin bags out for the binmen. I believe the council provided the bin, therefore it's their responsibility to clean it if it's dirty. That said we only put our rubbish in bin bags in the wheelie bin so it shouldn't get dirty. The recycling boxes are only for glass, paper and plastic so they don't get dirty either.

If we had a food waste bin, I would expect the council to arrange it's cleaning too, not sure I'd pay to have it cleaned, I'd do it myself

We have a wheelie bin and two recycle boxes, the boxes don't really get dirty I've rinsed them out once I think. The wheelie doesn't get very dirty becasue everything that goes in is in bags anyway. I've had to bleach it a couple of times (when the neighbours decided to tip a load of their stuff in) but I wouldn't have considered paying to have it done.

    Hi

We have 1 x wheelie bin for rubbish, 1 x recycling and 1 box for glass recycling.

We don't have them cleaned but would consider it but probably once every 6 months - I would say probably anything up to £10 for all 3.

    Good luck with the research.

No wheelie bins where I live the Council provide us with bin bags. We do have recycling boxes though but just for paper and glass, the compost caddy is cleaned out by me every week.

If I did have a wheelie bin though Id probably clean it myself when it needed it with the pressure washer and detergent.

I have one wheelie, which I would LOVE to have cleaned..it's rancid and I can't physically clean it, because it makes me heave!

I have a recycling box which I rinse with the hose if it gets scummy!

We have a wheelie bin and a recycling box here. I always use a wheelie bin liner in the wheelie bin and as I tuck the top of it round the edge of the bin it lasts quite a few weeks. The rubbish I put in the bin is also mostly in bags so it doesn't get dirty. I have never cleaned it and it doesn't smell. Most of the bins round here have a sticker on saying they are cleaned by XYZ wheelie bin cleaning company but I have lived here for five years and I have never ever seen anyone coming round cleaning the bins. I assume that XYZ cleaning company have gone out of business.

In Bristol they have food bins as well (being South Glos we don't) and as far as I know people can buy degradable liner bags for them so I wouldn't think there would be much of a market for cleaning those either.
