aaarrrrhhhhh Im so indecisive

shoegal01, 20 August, 2009 at 12:37 Posted on Planning 0 26

I cant make my mind up on anything!

I THOUGHT i wanted quite a big statement dress but now i think i want a slinky one (much to my mums horror)

I thought i wanted a black and white theme but now i think its too common and now i dont know what i want

I thought i wanted OH in tails but now im inclining more to a simple suit he can wear again

I thought i wanted roses but now i dont want something everyone else has

I thought i wanted 2 bridesmaids now i am not sure i made the right choice

I thought i wanted a big traditional wedding and now i think i want a small, quirky wedding

I cant make any decisions!!!

I know how you feel. At least yours isn't in two weeks time ?

Sounds like someone's been reading too much CAOS!

Oh eek, i didnt mean that in a bad way! Your theme was bloody gorgeous but 2 of my friends are getting married before me and they are both having a B&W theme so maybe i should say 'common within my group of friends'!

SK - yup i really have been reading too much of caos AND i have found loads of other blogs with all these amazing weddings but if i try and do it i think it will look like one big mess!!

Your right at least i have a while before i have to make any proper decisions.

I have booked the venue and i LOVE it and woudnt change it but it has a oldy worldy feel to it and i dont want that feel for the wedding!!!

I was never any good at planning parties or anything!! Smiley sad

Awww Shoegal I feel your pain. Try not to worry about things too much. Believe me, it will all fall into place. Take one thing at a time and it will be perfect in the end.

Start with trying on all different styles of dresses and take the inspiration from your dress for everything else.

Calm down Shooey, your "theme" will suddenly come together... mine did. It sounds by your description of the venue that it wouldn't suit a B&W theme anyway, I think SG45s ultra modern hotel lends itself wonderfully to that theme but an "oldy worldy" type place probably wont... my advice would be to go back to the venue again and see if you get any further inspiration from there, then it will all slot into place... it's a bride's pergoative to change her mind anyway ?

If you have an afternoon free, why don't you make up a couple of mood boards - large collages of pictures/fabrics etc that you have seen and liked.

Do one for each of the sorts of styles that you like and then take them all along to the venue to see which might suit the place best.

Sprouty you are so right - as much as i would love a B&W theme, it just wont go with the venue

    here are some pics -

this is inside and where we would be having the wedding breakfast

    heres the outside

Because its quite castle like im not sure if a slinky dress would suit the venue??

Ideas please - lovely Oh la la - do me one of your fabby mood boards!!

Step.away.from.caos (i *so* need to look it up and have a nose at this wedding porn.... missed all the excitement whilst i was away)

i don't think a black and white ultra modern theme would 'go' with your venue. but in any case, why do you need a 'theme'? i didn't have one, but just a rough colour scheme. and don't pick a dress just to go with your venue, pick a dress because you love it.

i picked a dress i loved, H picked a tartan he loved, and then we picked things that looked nice and felt right, and 'us' - it all kind of fell into place. i cut loads of pics out of wedding mags, but in the end, hardly referred to them.

    caaaaaaalm yourself lovey.

I really don't think it matters. Slinky would go with your venue, as would princess. I wouldn't even consider venue when buying your dress.

I completely see where you are coming from. I'm now doubting every element of my wedding, and think my 'fun filled' wedding is actually just going to be a giant tack-fest.

I have been worrying that i dont have a "theme" yet, but as my bridesmaids have reminded me, as long as i choose everything that I (and H2B has a small input) like it will be a theme of my day and unlike anyone else.

Sounds like everyone is giving great advice, and i have fingers crossed that i will get "the feeling" about the dress etc, we certainly got it with the venue and the photograper!

    Good luck and don't worry

    Hey shoe Gal

1st dont panic(yet) you do have enough time do do it all and do it beautifully - it really doesnt matter if others are really ahead of the game !

have whatever dress you love - I did and Ive been doubting my dress choice but it was on other peoples perceptions - over the last few days ive thought IF it I love the dress so I dont care if its 'too dressy for my venue'

I think your venue is amazing and would really suit a romantic soft pink / ivory theme !

I do LOVE black and white themes but I think they suit modern venues best ! ( just my opinion before anyone kills me !! )

however that said - If YOU want a black and white theme go for it - I bet it will still look different to any of your friends !

my friend had an ivory and dark red theme ( and I nearly didnt have it just because she had 1st - then I decided its my fav colour and im having it - My wedding will be completly different to hers so it doesnt matter.

HTH - god what a load of rambling !! HA HA

And Breath lady, I am indeciseve and awkard, I wanted beautiful country vintage type wedding but then it became fashiinable and I thought I didn't want it.

Then I paniced seeing all the organised types on here (I am about as organised as you so we can be indeciseve tohgether).

I say the best way forward is to have things that make you happy, if you love a slinky dress and it makes you smile go for it. Your venue is AMAZING lady, any type of dress will go.

Have you thought about dress shopping on your own? I have tried it and it is lovely as you only have to think of your opinion.

I can't remeber but are you an October bride?

If you are I think your venue would look amazing with soft golds and reds alternately Navy/ midnight blue with lots of ivory and yellow flowers could look amazing.

Forget other peoples blogs while some are truly amazing to look at (I love CASOS and it afford many a wobble for me). your wedding will be amazing whatever because it will be yours, if a decision makes you smile and happy then its the right one and other people can bugger offf (if you will excuse my language!)

    Hi Shoegal,

hope you don't mind me jumping in... I think you are near me and the September wedding fairs start soon. Pop into The Epsom Downs fair ( its the biggest locally and you get a lots of suppliers) and ask some of the photographers there if they have any photos of weddings at Horsley. It may help you see what other brides have had, if only to eliminate certain colours etc.

    hope tht helps

Dont panic, i picked my bm colours about 6 months before the wedding

If you like dark colours, would you consider a navy?

And wear whatever dress you want, i never considered the venue!

What about still having some black and white, but softening it up with a blush pink.....think French Romance!

You could even add an antique gold tone.
