Aargh!!! Invitation wording help needed.....

sarahb3426, 25 March, 2011 at 08:50 Posted on Planning 0 9

As above, i've had an email from the lady doing our wedding invites (the very talented Zoe Rusga from Bunny Delious) who said as soon as we have the wording for our invites she will send out a proof and get them started.....but don't know how to word them!!!!

We know we want the invitations to come from us (were paying for the wedding) but would like to include our parents also, with something like "together with their parents) but don't know a) to put "together with their parents" before our names or after and b) do we put our full names (i.e. title, first name and surname)???

Aaarghh, never thought it would be so difficult to word them!!

Any help, ideas much appreciated!!!!

If it helps (and anything for a cheeky flash, here is our invites!)

I would put your names first and then "together with their parents" as I think the other way around could indicate that both sets of parents are paying for the wedding. If anyone looks into things that much lol. But I think that's what we'll be doing as we're paying for most ourselves with a contribution from the rents xx

    I would put

Sarah and Richard together with their parents would like to invite ....

that way it shows that you are paying the most for your wedding but that your parents are included too

Ours said 'Together with our parents' first then in bigger font our first names only. We chose to put first names only as it was a civil ceremony, and we weren't going with the traditional format for the invites - so jsut a bit less formal.

Does that make sense? Haven't had my coffee yet!

We had full names, but then our invitations were fairly formal. So it was:

    Miss *** ****

    &

    Mr **** **** ****

    together with their parents

request the pleasure of the company of...

and then guest names were printed onto the invitation.

Our names were in fancy font in a different colour, but the "together with their parents" bit was just in the font/colour used for the rest of it. We didn't even think about who was paying... our parents have paid for the vast majority but the invitations are still from us as it's our wedding and we're hosting, no reflection on where the funds came from!

We're paying for the wedding ourselves and did quite informal invites so ours were from our shortened first names with surnames:

    Cat Cowan

    &

    Jim Steven

Hope you will join them to celebrate their marriage

    Hi ladies,

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions so far!!!

Think we will go with just first names, as surely everyone we are inviting to our wedding will know it's us!!!! he he
