Aargh!!! Veils.......Amended with FLASHES!!!

sarahb3426, 11 May, 2011 at 12:24 Posted on Planning 0 24

Aargh, I seem to be having trouble getting the veil I want (well that I think I want?!) I am looking into a Catherdral Length veil in Brilliant White with a Diamonte edging, but the ones I have managed to see are a) too short, only short lengths and b) far to expensive!!

Am I being unrealistic in my price range, I don't have a set price but the ones I have been quoted are around £220-250 and that is a little too much for me.

Where did everyone else buy their veils from?! And is anyone else having a Catherdral length one?

*****Have come to realise I think it was the Chapel Length veil I was after not a Catherdral length?!, I have attached a couple of sneaky pics of my dress - which veil size would you go for?? I have added, back/side and front detail pics - I was thinking of a Diamonte edge veil to bring out the detailing in my dress********

Sorry pics are huge!!!

Try http://www.ukweddingveils.co.uk/custom/ to build your own veil maybe?

I got mine from a charity shop, and it's cathedral length. I was going to add my own crystals but can't be bothered now and think it looks good without!

I've never actually seen a catherdral length veil with a diamonte trim. Anyway the price reflects the work involved I guess. Have you tried ebay or preloved?

WSS! I got mine from there. The website was easy to use, fast delivery and the quality was excellent (lovely soft tulle). I didn't get cathedral length but they do all sizes and you customise the veil according to your requirements. Very reasonably priced.

    I got a shoulder-length one for £12!

Hi Sarah, just to let you know that we also make cathedral length veils as you have described and they are very very reasonably priced. Also, we offer a discount to Hitched members as well...

Thanks again ladies, am on to it!!! lol

Think am confusing myself now though, as some shops have called it a Chapel length and others Catherdral and then some just by size!! Will go and google my dress and see if it tells me the length of the train on my dress and see if that helps!

Will be trying some of the suggestions given though! - thank you!!

Just to say - Chapel length is just on the floor. and cathedral length is much longer, it has more of a train to it....hope that makes sense!! x

I had thought of shopping around for one and then I saw a picture of my mum in hers. She has dug it all out of storage somewhere for me. She hadn't even given it a moments thought. Do you know anyone (sister, aunt etc) you could ask to have theirs? Sure it wouldn't be too hard to get it amended and the crystals added?

I had mine custom made from the following website -

    www.theweddingveilshop.co.uk

I ordered samples (a few weeks in advance), then chose my width, length, edge finishing, colour etc and it came to a total of £41.00 - so much cheaper buying it online. I am very happy with the end result. My seamtress even recommended this company, after I asked if she could make one for me.

    Good luck hun x x x

What a gorgeous dress! I have never really liked the more fitted dress but that is STUNNING! I love it! Smiley smile

Anyway, back to topic! I am having a Cathedral Length veil and mine was not too pricey but it's quite simple, it just has crystals dotted around spaced out over it, the rest is quite plain.

I chose it because my dress only has a very slight flare/train at the back and it is a princess style/larger skirt dress so I wanted a veil as a train really, then I will take it off after the ceremony Smiley smile

    Hi Hollie,

It is indeed a Maggie Sottero and the dress itself is called Brianna x There is a similar dress called the Adora (or something like that) and I also tried on in a different shop a Benjamin Roberts - Brooklyn which is quite similar also x

Many thanks for your comments ladies, I loved the dress when I tried it on, I tried on sooo many, and didnt like the look on me with the bigger style dresses and didnt mess with this dress once it was on.

I think a longer veil would suit the dress and give it that bit more of a bridal look, i.e the Chapel length, but have also seen mid length veils that look lovely, just dont know which would suit my dress! aargh!!

Mrs Bass - yours is lovely!!
