Abba - cool or not cool?

bobbly1, 3 July, 2008 at 22:02 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 13

I've just been watching the Mama Mia programme on ITV and the music is so timeless.

With the film coming out, will\is Abba Cool or not cool? (hoping it is cool!)

I refer you to my favourite film (The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) and a top quote therein, from Terence Stamp's character Bernadette:

"I've said it before and I'll say it again. No more fucking Abba!" ?

I think that answers your question.

    Not cool.

For some reason they became coolish again late 90s early 00s. I'm sick to death of the music now.

I will, however, always love Muriel's Wedding.

Cool. Always cool. I love listening to ABBA Gold. I end up like this:

"Ooo - this is my all-time favourite ABBA song"

    [next track]

"No, wait, this is my all-time favourite ABBA song"

    [next track]

I remember my sis and I listening and singing along to Abba on car journeys in the 70's! - our car only had a car radio, so we had a cassette recorder in the back with us, that we would play the tapes on! We must have driven our parents mad - but we both still know all the words to the songs!!

LOL!!! - I love it when you go to parties\weddings and the dj puts on the Abba Medely - gets everyone up and dancing and singing.

I went to see the stage show of Mama Mia and it was fantastic - the audience participation was great!

I love Abba. I was born 71 (no jokes about being an old 'b' please ?) so grew up with their music and dance routines. Not too sure whether the film would be up my street though, as i think they themselves are best singing their own songs.

    LEGENDS!!!

It was one of those groups that when I was a girl, none of our friends or I fancied the chaps, but there were aways arguements over which of the girls we wanted to look like when we grew up! (sadly I ended up looking like neither of them - I never could forsee in those days I would end up looking like Jo Brand!) Oh to be 10 again!

There is nothing like an Abba song to get everyone on the dance floor. Oh I could watch Muriels wedding now.

A guilty pleasure. Like Dolly Parton, Neil Diamond and Girls Aloud.

I only caught the tailend of this programme (sorry i've been down the pub for tea), definitely want to see the film and have just spent some time downloading a few of my favoutie Abba tracks on to my itunes as i realised my ipod was sadly lacking in Abba.

So in my book they're cool?
