I'm not heated...but you certainly seem to be! I may be a little pedantic, but I still think that the notion and definition of "luxury" is a valid discussion in itself.

Thank you ever so much Young and in love! this is the exact reason i originally posted. i wanted to find out all the unusual and nice things that other people are considering for their weddings that will make it special to them. i wasnt looking for a debate or any nastiness at all. i was curious to find out what other addional things people have spent that little extra penny on.

Ok heated was probably a bit over exaggerating... Especially as we're through the Internet. I just thought it was going a bit off topic though and OP was having to defend everything she said. I think the definition of luxury depends on who you are, if you were a celebrity then you wouldn't feel it was luxury as you'd be used to it, but it would still seem luxury to us and be defined as luxury as it'd still be extravagant.

The spoon is just getting stirred again....Just leave those who want to add and discuss their luxuries at that, we dont need definitions as a few people have rightly said, it's budget dependant...

I didnt NEED to have an icecream cart or a band but in my eyes, those are my luxuries....

If I could choose another luxury it would be a candy floss cart as I love candy floss and my colour theme is pink...Another luxury in my eyes would be a bit more alcohol for guests or changing the prosecco into champagne..

I think we need to chill a bit an pipe down....

I don't think it's heated, everyone is going to have different ideas on what luxury is to them. To some people luxury is having a band rather than a dj, to others it's having a dj rather than an iPod filled with music. None of these are wrong, I think it's interesting to see what other people are having.

ETA, I do however think its naive to think the OP didn't read the other thread seeing as she kept dropping things in that was mentioned in that.

    ?

Who exactly needs to chill? This thread really isnt getting heated. Its grown women just having a discussion, I dont see the problem?

More to the point, can somebody answer my earlier question about how much it costs to have a dove release???

No they are not, but luxury is defined as a state of great comfort & extravagant living. So they would be living extravagantly in our eyes, but to them it would be the norm.

Like AC said, technically it's all luxury depending on who you ask - if we asked people in third world countries it most definitely all would be.

I didn't have any luxury things I think?

I think on reflection I would have loved an ice cream cart from an independent shop in oxford where I had my first date with OH (G&Ds for anyone who wants to know) but we were getting married in Berkshire and the cost was to high to hire them. And a normal band as well as a barn dance. Plus better lighting as we couldn't dim the barn lights for the evening. This would have added about £1k to the budget though and I didn't have the funds.

Is a band more luxurious than a DJ? Why?

Exactly back onto topic... if you want to define 'luxury' then start a new topic

As for a candy floss machine that would be fab! i like the vintage tea party idea with the old tea cups, scones and cake stands etc but OH isnt to fussed plus i cant really see him drinking from a fine bone china tea cup lol

thats like the photo booths also in additon to a guest book, im not too keen on them mind. think we are going to have a frame with mount that people sign so i can put wed pic in and put up on the wall

I can't link properly on my phone but google 'wings of white'. Their site has prices.

From £150 for 2 white doves to be released by B&G.

From £225 plonk those 2 doves at the entrance to your venue and they stay there while guests arrive and through the ceremony, then the B&G release at end.

I would have loved a photo booth & that would have been something I stretched out for, but our venue doesn't really have any space for it.

We're doing the framed mount thing - it's been in my living room with an engagement photo in for 6 months, it's now in my boot about to be taken to the photographers to dismantle ready for Sunday...I'll miss seeing it!

I did wonder what you do if people put things in there that arent appropriate/start crossing their stuff out?!

I think it all depends on what you like, I prefer a live band so to me it's about spending a bit more on something me and the boy want. To someone else though they could hate live bands so wouldn't pay extra for one. It's personal choice though

I think the dove release. I have been here 4 years and you are the first person I have seen who has said that they like them. Of course there is nothing wrong with that though. Your day your way hun.

When googling pics and going to a friends wedding, it looked 'romantic' etc didnt think it would cause so many issues... i'd prefer to release robins if i had my own way ;-)

I will add thats a joke incase everyone jumps on the band wagon and shoots me down for cruelty to robins!

I had a signed plate for our engagement, it said you can scrub stuff off until you bake it, then it is set and can't be removed. I never baked mine.
