Adverse Weather!

emmiejune, 12 October, 2013 at 22:03 Posted on Planning 0 16

Anyone else seen the predictions for the 'worst winter' around? Am hoping the 'record breaking snow' has sorted itself out by Dec 21st! My venue is quite a way out down some pretty tiny roads. The owner says they can keep some of the roads open nearby and that they haven't had to cancel one yet so here's hoping!

I wouldn't worry, the weather people predict all kinds of crap that never happens - like good summers for example. Although we did actually have a bit of summer this year.

You can't control the weather so just make sure you have a plan in place just in case.

I wouldn't worry about the weather until a few days before your wedding. They scaremonger every year, it must be a slow news day.

Yes! Just read it and like you I am getting married at a venue that is a bit in the middle of nowhere down a narrow country lane! I get married on 29 November and just worry that if the weather is awful guests will be late or won't make it! I would get there even if it meant strapping tennis rackets to my shoes! ⛄

I had to raise my eyebrows reading that Express story about the worst winter for decades, you would've thought an apocalypse was coming!

I found this response from the Met Office which should help reassure you.

And this is why I post here! My usual good sense seems to go out of the window when it relates to the wedding! Thank you for your comments, I shall not panic at all until two days before :-)

And maybe buy some boots... and a shovel

Get married on 16th November and would LOVE a snowy wedding!! Our venue is up a fairly steep and bumpy hill, but hopefully the buses would make it up. It would look beautiful!

    Depends on 2 things really:

    1) how high you are

    &

    2) how north you are

I live in the north, on one of the highest point in the county and we get snow every year (full blizzards up to waist deep) but by the time I get to uni (usually 20 mins away) in the city of the next county (based much lower) there is usually little more than a thin coat of slush to which the southern students go mad about how beautiful the snow is 'because they hardly get any back home'

I know you can't go on the weather of previous years but I have a child who's birthday is two days before your wedding and in 6 years we've only once had a very light amount of snow on that date. December is usually quite mild.

I wouldn't believe anything you read in the Express it's just as bad as the Mail! I hope it doesn't snow too much this winter though, I'm getting married in Feb!

Because it was significantly cheaper than the other dates we looked at and, given that the weather is unpredictable in this country, we figured even booking for June or August was not guarantee of good weather.

I'm a February bride and I would love a sprinkling of snow on my wedding day, I really hope for it to happen. Can't say I'm keen on the worst winter for 100 years though but they always get it wrong ... Famous last words ha.

I think the wedding weather will be what it will be, none of us have any way to change it, so there's no point worrying.
