Advice on accessories

april_bride, 15 November, 2011 at 20:23 Posted on Planning 0 13

This is my dress...

As it is plain with no sparkles I wanted a statement necklace, perhaps something like this -

and i like side tiaras like one i noticed on another thread -

or

and like pearl and diamante dropper earrings.......

However, do you think this will look too much? Not sure whether i should have a simpler headpiece or would i get away with it as the dress is so plain?

Any opinions/ideas welcome, find it so hard to piece everything together!

I'm having a similar issue, my dress is very simple and I'm "sparkling" it up with accessories. I think you can get away with really sparkly accessories if your dress isn't sparkly, and likewise if you have a very sparkly dress, understated accessories look better. I'm having sparkly shoes, super sparkly necklace, drop earrings and tiara, and sparkles on my veil. The hope is that it'll finish off my simple dress nicely. I say go for it all! Your dress is beautiful btw, very elegant.

Gorgeous tiaras! I'm doing a similar thing - simple dress and sparkly accessories. I think a big statement necklace AND tiara plus statement earrings and bracelet would be too much altogether so maybe don't go OTT with all the accesories, keep some pieces more understated. Good luck choosing it all!

I think it's all down to personal taste. For me, it's not about how sparkly something is it's more about the size of it so a large side tiara and a really chunky necklace might be too much IMO.

I have lots of side tiaras on this page

If you wanted something really sparkle, I have the Belle tiara which isn't on the website yet. The (rubbish!) photo below shows it with grey pearls and diamante but I have just finished another order for one all in diamantes. Something like this is a nice statement and then a necklace like "Allure" in a Y Shape would compliment the sweetheart neckline on your dress.

Or you could have a more low keey sparkly tiara like Charleston (perhaps with pearls on the band) and then a Y necklace in pearls and sparkle.

If I can help at all or you'd like to go through some options, please feel free to email me on ****@***********.**.** - all items can be found on www.louloubelle.co.uk

I think you would be surprised at how understated both of those tiaras look when they are worn. They look very detailed in the photos, but they both lie flat on the head, and although they are sparkly and definitely catch the eye, its not like the large, traditional style tiaras which are very much centrepieces in their own right!

Your dress is utterly beautiful, because of its shape rather than embellishment, which means you can get away with adding sparkly detail elsewhere!

The only thing I would say is that if you are going with a detailed headpiece and necklace, I might keep earrings fairly simple.

If you would like to discuss matching jewellery for either of my headbands above, please do drop me an email. I'll certainly see if I can help! *****@******************.**.**

Personally......tiara, necklace, ear rings, bracelet.....all quite big would be too much for me. But that is me. If I go out Ill wear a pair of studs and statement bracelet/ring or necklace. Never all of them. However, that is totally my preference.

But of course this is completely your choice. I think that the necklace you have shown is stunning! And I'd go for something like this to echo that, but not be too much.

Or....if you do want a statement tiara, then I'd just have a plain string of pearls or something like that. Again though.....it's our choice! I'm just super fussy with things like this!

Thanks for all the input! I think I will either go with both side tiara and big necklace or get a double band diamante headband instead, wish you could try everything on before you decide it seems like such a chance!!

And thanks HIBs for your suggestions I'll have another look at your websites!

Also, if i go for both side tiara and the necklace shown in my opening post - should I wear them so the bling is on opposite sides so as to not look too 'one-sided'?

    Hi,

I think with side tiaras you can still get away with a detailed necklace especially with the simplicity and elegance of your dress but like others have mentioned I'd opt for stud earrings or small drops. I probably would wear the side parts of opposite sides so you have detail spread out but if you were to wear it all on one side I don't think it would look odd.

If you did like matching accessories I've got this side design on a double or single band

Here are some other statement bracelets if you went for a side tiara, simple necklace but more detailed bracelet.

My website is being relaunched soon but in the meantime it still contains designs - www.lynseysdesigns.co.uk however the facebook page is full of designs including brand new ones for 2012 www.facebook.com/lynseysdesigns1.
