Advice on invites please

car822499, 5 August, 2010 at 13:28 Posted on Planning 0 5

I suddenly realised I have no idea when invites are supposed to be sent out. We're getting married on 18th December this year and it's closer than I thought (I keep thinking it's like a year away!!). I'm planning on making my invites but don't know when to start. When should I be sending them out? I've heard some people send them out 3 or 4 months ahead which wouldn't give me a lot of time to make them. Mini panic going on. I think it's because I had a bad dream last night about the wedding ☹️

Thanks,

Car. x

We get married at the end of May 2011 and we are sending our invites out at the end of March ? x

If I were having a xmas wedding I would probably send them a bit sooner with people going away over the holidyas etc x

Hmmm I've been thinking the same recently as its now 6 months exactly.

wedding mags say 4 months before - but I've heard 2months before.. so I'm sure you will be fine.

I must pull finger out and organise ordering at least!

Our wedding is the 3rd of december this year. My day invites are just about finished and will be sending the first batch out next week. The reason it is a bit early is that I am anticipating a few people no being able to attend so i wanted to give us plenty of time to send out a second batch of day invites to fill spaces up before we send out our evening invites. Also December is a busy month for people with christmas parties and shopping etc. so we wanted to make sure everyone has plenty of time to make arrangements to attend.

    Don't panic!

Take the date that you need to send your final numbers to the caterers, then count back a week, to give your RSVP deadline. Then count back 4/6 weeks to give the date you HAVE to have posted them by. I would guess you'd be looking at mid Oct.

If this feels too late to you, especially if you haven't sent STDs, you can always send them sooner.

Thanks. I'm thinking the same thing about Christmas parties and things. We did start to send out STD cards but didn't quite get round everyone (oops) but most, if not all, of our guests have been told anyway. I think I might start looking at designs and things in the next few weeks. I'm trying to squish everything in to the school holidays as once I'm back at work I doubt I'll have any time to do anything. Stoopid work getting in the way, grrr ?.
