Advice on MUA

Jeepers14, 12 February, 2014 at 21:01 Posted on Planning 0 7

Firstly I'd like to say hello from the shadows, I've been hooked on here for a good few months but not really had anything to contribute/ask!

i was just wondering how you have decided on a MUA. I'm slightly overwhelmed when I'm looking and scared I will make the wrong decision. The trials are a lot of money if you decide you don't like the person.

any advice would be greatly appreciated Smiley smile

I looked at photographs on their website/fb page at the style of make up they tend to do, which I found really helped me narrow down who I wanted.

Then there was the MUA I met at a wedding fair, who did my make up for me & I looked like a drag queen ? needless to say I didn't contact her afterwards!!

@PurpleParsnip: Woooaaah! That was, indeed, a very traumatic experience.

I looked at websites, found ones I liked then emailed them for quotes - I picked a girl who seemed really nice and is only charging £40 as she is just finishing her portfolio so needs the pictures and I have my trial in May. As long as all goes well, I have a nice and cheap MUA!!! If not, then I've only lost £40 so it could be a lot worse ?

I put out a plea for recommendations on facebook and a close friend recommended mine. I normally only wear mascara and lipgloss, since then I've realised that a lot of my facebook friends and family use this particular MUA. I have my trial on the 11th March so fingers crossed.

Ps forgot to say mine is costing £200.00 but that is total cost for myself with a trial and they are using the airbrushing technique, my 3 bridesmaids and I've also booked a make over for my mum as a treat on the day.

Thanks for the replies. Think I will keep looking at websites and their portfolios and I might venture to some wedding fayres to see what is around. My friends friend does make up so I'd feel obliged to have her if I do a Facebook plea.

Wow I never realised how expensive MUA are, my niece is doing mine and 3 of my bridesmaids for £50. I don't wear make up usually so I only want minimal. She also did my nieces prom make up and it was gorgeous

I haven't quite booked my MUA yet but I'm 99% sure that I know who I'll book (she is free on my date) as I like the way she does her own make up. That was how I made my decision.
