advice/opinions on centrepieces needed please...

weedancer, 1 March, 2009 at 20:30 Posted on Planning 0 12

Evening all, ?

Ok i cant believe i have less than 11weeks to go and i still have so much to do!!! Was trying on wedding rings today but still undecided!

Anyway, my latest quest is to decide on centrepieces. I really wanted beautiful real flower arrangements but with 12 tables to dress, i am thinking that maybe it is too expensive. Our colour is purple and i was wondering what you all thought of this:

Beautiful purple orchid plants (£6 Morrisons) in cream ceramic plant pot, on a mirror base with some crystals scattered or something...

What do you think about plants as a centrepiece?

I thought they would not only be cheaper but also i could give them as gifts at the end. Has anyone ever had plants, any pictures of this etc...

thanks xxx

Hey, I'm no flower expert, but these are my suggestions:

Sweet Peas - really easy to grow, and smell divine!!

Hydrangeas are gorgeous too, plonk the cut heads in clear vases!

How about lavender? You could give the plants in their pots to the guests to plant at home and remember your special day.

    xx

I'm crap with anything like this but Sherrie H will hopefully have some fab mood boards with ideas. I like the idea of being able to give the plants away as presents.

I love the idea of hand picked flowers, like sweat pea or bluebells - they would look lovely in a small thin vase (Ikea-esq!) with some purple ribbon tied round the vase.

Lavender would make the room smell gorgeous!

Substitute the blue and green hydrangea heads for all purple?

I like the cheap and cheerful idea of wrapping threaded beads round jam jars, then putting cheaper flowers, like sweet peas or freesias in them.

    Another orchid idea.

Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE that idea. I'd put a tall vase with a smaller vase beside it. Simple, elegant and just lovely.

I was just about to say the same. This one is gorgeous! So much so, that I'm now wracking my brain for an excuse to be able to use this!?

I had rose bushes as my table centres and gave them away after - people still tell me how theirs are doing, which is lovely!

My friend had potted orchids as table centres and they looked lovely (no pics I'm afraid!).

Potted Orchids would look lovely. You could also use artificial orchid heads scatterd around the base on the mirrors.

Maybe add a tag to the plants with your names & date of the wedding & a small thanks you for attending message.
