After a bad week I'm having a break......

Gillsy, 18 October, 2009 at 10:23 Posted on Planning 0 9

This is a bit pointless but just had to post it anyway (to make me feel better ?)

After a bad week last week including yesterday with my mum not talking to me all week, her ruining one of my days off I took for her, not sleeping well, up at 4.30am yesterday, the disappointments at the hairdressers and jewellery place, OH shouting at me and telling me I was doing it all wrong then jumping in an out of bed all last night cos I was dreaming there were spiders in my bed (strange I know!!!!) I've decided I really do need a break from all the WP.

I'm pretty much on top of it all so all I really need to do this week is pop to Country Baskets one lunchtime to try and get my ribbon so I'll do that but thats it.

This is what I've planned for today and this week instead.....

Today I'm going to get myself showered and changed just shortly and go to the gym for a nice workout to clear my head, I'll get a quick shower there then I'll head to Asda to do my shopping and when I come home I'm going to make Minestrone soup (for the first time - if anybody has any fab recepies?????). Thats what I'll have for lunch then I'm going to tidy up all my wedding sh*t and get it out of the way. I'll do my ironing and change the bed, some housework and wash the dishes. I know this doesn't sound v exciting but I'm looking forward to it lol

Tuesday night I'm going to see Pink so I'm really looking forward to that. Although a downside to that is I have to be at work for 6am Wednesday morning ? - I'm sure I'll be fine.

Feel much better already - thanks for reading if you got this far....lol

Oh gills sounds like you really need a break - I think you're definitely doing the right think by just clearing your mind of it all for a while - I don't think you really stop planning as you'll always get ideas through your head (well thats what its like for me) but there's a difference between that and it being all-consuming so to speak . (is any of this making sense?...)

what was OH having a go at you for?

anyway I think it would be good for you and for your health to make some space between you and WP - before you go insane!

I have never made minestrone soup so not sure about recipes - Delia is always a safe bet for me. Making veggie soup today with some leftover pumpkin I froze - think I'm going to make like a spicy rustic thing - though the sun has just come out !

Thanks Nona. Yeah shes at the SECC. We've been to see her twice before and she is fab. We missed out earlier in the year because her concert was the day after we went to Florida - I was so disappointed but then she added an extra date which was in October - perfect!!!!!

Also very jealous you're going to see Pink. I was going to ask you to sneak me in but now they scan all tickets on the way in and out! Boo, ruining everyone's fun! ?

I get what you are saying 100% - I'm looking forward to clearing it all from my mind.

My OH initially had a go at me for provisionally booking the buses this week cos he said that he was going to find out about buses through his work - now this was weeks ago and he hasn't done anything about it or mentioned it since. This quickly lead onto the fact that we don't know how many people will be getting a bus (but this is normal) which then lead onto the fact that the guest list hasn't been finalised yet. My side of the guest list has been finalised - hes sat for months not making decisions about who he wants on the day list and the evening list. I keep asking him to do it and he wont. I've asked and asked cos I've needed to know when I ordered the stationery and when we are making the invitations at the end of the month and he hasn't done it and now hes giving ME a hard time cos the guest list isn't finalised!!!! I told him that I can't make his decisions for him and all the things I've asked him to do like ask his family if they might want a room at the hotel, if they would be interested in buses, if his BIL would video the wedding, decide on his wedding ring, finalise the guest list he hasn't done. Soooooo frustrating!!!!! lol

Thanks Tango and I'll have a look at Delia's stuff for Minestrone soup

Oh yeah, forgot there was something else yesterday - we were planning to go to Dublin for my hen do and my BMs were sorting this out - I told them a few weeks ago I wanted the flights booked cos its through Ryanair and the flights don't stay cheap for long. I spoke to one of my BMs through the week and they hadnt really done anything else with it and said they would look at it next week. Yesterday I checked and the flights and they are away up in price which means that we wont be doing that for my hen any more. I know its not the end of the world but I was really looking forward to it and if it had been left to me to organise I would have had it all booked by now.

Right, thats enough - sorry, I'm going to shake it all off ️?️

Oh Gills just hget it all out of your system - we'll call it a 'cleansing exercise'!

about your OH - well tat sounds pretty damn familiar! lol, my OH is the same, I have to keep on going about things until its done or do it myself. usually comes don to "I'm doing x NOW and whatever is not finalised I'm going to just make it up" - then he either panics and does it himself - or leaves me to it and knows he won't be able to complain later, but I know exactly what you're talking about.

Shame about the Hen weekend! can you move it to a different date or is that not an option?...

I'm not sure I want a hen weekend at all... there was an idea of going to Rome, but I don't know, money is tight and it just seems like an unnecessary indulgence at the moment.

    Thanks (again) Tango

I know that your OH and my OH are v similar in the way they do (or don't do) things!!!! lol Am going to sit mine down tonight with the laptop and make him decide or, as you do, tell him I'll just make the decision if he doesn't!!!!

I'm the same with the hen weekend - I was trying to keep the costs down as much as possible. The return flights were £10 to Dublin including taxes and checkin which I thought was great - now its about £30 plus checkin so its just getting too much. We'll do a re-think. The weekend was just for me and a close group of friends. I'm having a dinner locally at then end of March that hopefully everybody will be able to make.
