Afternoon Tea?

lozenges, 8 August, 2011 at 10:51 Posted on Planning 0 14

I'd be really grateful for your thoughts ...

We are considering instead of the more typical Wedding Breakfast meal and then evening buffet, serving afternoon tea and then a slightly later main meal but then no evening buffet.

Everyone will be invited for the whole day so there won't be any evening guests expecting to be fed and we will make the arrangements clear to our invitees.

Sound good/bad???

This is EXACTLY what I am hoping to do. It's a brilliant idea (great minds think alike ^^ )

We are doing it to keep our wedding intimate, I really want it to feel special and I'm not really into the whole evening dj/disco thing. I'm looking at country manors to hold the ceremony, high tea and evening meal for my nearest and dearest. Once I've settled on a venue, I'll update my plans on my blog (http://mytinyvintagewedding.blogspot.com/ ). At the moment I'm collecting bits of vintage china and have the most amazing cakestand ever!

This is exactly what we're doing. We are having an Afternoon champagne/tea party at around 3.30 and then serving a BBQ at around 7.30.

Sounds like a good idea to me. As long as your guests know what happening you can do almost anything you want.

    Hi,

That’s sounds like a fabulous idea, my clients did this too in June for there typical English vintage style wedding, It went down very well, and was such a relaxed atmosphere.

The cost is much lower than the traditional wedding breakfast in the day, and they can be served there hot roast buffet in the evening.

Your guests will love it. Good Luck ?

I love this idea so much (as I love both tea and cakes) but OH wants a traditional meal. Sigh

Not necessarily. My afternoon tea is the most expensive part at £30 per head. The BBQ is cheaper at £19 per head.

We are also having afternoon tea/tea party instead of a traditional wedding breakfast.

Neither of us are particularly formal people, so thought it reflected us better. Also means we can afford a fab venue and have everyone there that we want.

We shall probably have a hog roast or BBQ in the evening, but earlier than the traditional buffet would generally be served

We're doing this, and I'm very excited about it. It's not cheaper for us though - but we're going all out and having very fancy sandwiches and cakes. It is possible to do it for much less.

I think I'd like to go to a wedding with that - a really nice change. Just make sure you make it v clear on the invitations!
