Alex Curran

Clare _ M, 30 April, 2009 at 16:16 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 20

For some reason the woman really annoys me. I don't know why it's just one of those unexplainable things. However, I've just read this article and it's made my blood boil.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1175448/I-used-eat-McDonalds-meals-week-I-bored-says-Alex-Curran.html

She's moaning that she was bored with her endless free time and that's the reason she was putting on weight and eating McDonalds. So rather than deciding to do something worthwhile with her spare time she's employed a personal trainer and built a gym in her house.

I don't really understand the point in the article or what point she's trying to make. Yes, I konw it's the Daily Mail quoting from some trashy magazine but still - what is the point of it? (and possibly this post as well ?)

What i don't get either is that she says that she ate loads of junk food like McDonalds, chinese, 7 bits of white bread etc and she was a size 10! I know that it i ate all that junk i would be alot bigger than a size 10. Also when did a size 10 become big? I would be well chuffed to fit into a size 10!

Have you seen the pics though? No way was she a 10 - I was a 14 a while ago and was smaller than her in the pic carrying the McDonalds bag.

Get a fucking job love, then you won't be bored ? What about looking after her babies? Surely that's a full time job in itself?

When at uni I lost weight by eating McDonalds [true story icon] ?

Something about her rubs me up the wrong way. I'm not generally a fan of wags though don't mind posh or cheryl but there's just something.... especially vacant about her isn't there?

'I used to eat McDonald's all the time because whenever I was on my way to Liverpool, I used to stop and get one. I reckon I'd probably have about three McDonald's a week.'

What has that got to do with boredom anyway? Surely she just liked Fat Ron's?

Also, giving up the junk food, exercising all the time and losing 6lbs? hard;y seems worth it

I was thinking the same about the kids, I thought looking after young children is a full time job too. When are these wags going to go away!!! They really do hurt my head ?

    I think she's just a bit vacuous isn't she.

    I wouldn't say she's more than a 12 in that picture though, she's quite tall I think.

Donut, different people carry their weight in different ways, if you think she's bigger than a 14 then you would think I was a 48, but I'm actually between a 14 and 16 (a 15?), I'm just short and carry all my weight on my stomach because pregnancy drastically changed my shape.

I didn't mean to sound so mean about her. 14 is a 30 waist isn't it, or 32 and I just thought she looked bigger than that round the middle. I carry my weight there (when I carry it) and on my thighs.

So the big-hold-the-front-page-Alex-Curran-has-a-sensational-story-designed-to-get-her-a-few-column-inches thing is that she lost 6lbs through hard work and good food.

Pah, I can lose that in the toilet on a good day.

"she used to eat up to three McDonald's meals a week"

    ?

I don't understand the point either. That is less than my usual weekly quota, although I much prefer Burger King.

Is it wrong of me to be amused by the 'enlarge' options at the bottom of both of the photographs of her?

    A 10 is a 28, 12 is a 30 and 14 is a 32 - well, they are as far as Top Shop jeans are concerned.

I really dislike Alex Curran. Even with all that money she looks cheap.

I read in OK that she's dropped her hair appointments to two a week and now does her own nails due to 'the credit crunch'

are we all supposed to be dead impressed or something?

and anyway, surely it should be people like her who can easily afford it that shouldn't cut down on stuff like that...because it just means the hairdresser/manicurist loses money while she tries to appear all 'noble' or whatever?

and while i hate to sound like my late grandmother or something, but if shes so 'bored' why doesn't she get a job or work for a charity or something?

    pointless WAG

I don't really like Alex Curran but I wouldn't be a WAG for all the money in the world. It is a very lonely lifestyle and unless you are in with other WAG's it pretty hard to have many friends as most people work. Also, a lot of the time, the men don't want their wives to work. Of course that varies a lot but as they finish training early afternoon they like to know their wife is around and also, they often go away for long periods during the break in season. They wouldn't be able to have that kind of time off if they worked. At top level, the men are a away an awful lot and extended holidays are probably the most time they will spend together. I don't pity them as I think they are lucky in many ways but it is an odd lifestyle and one I would never, ever want. It is also, very lonely!

well, it's up to them to stand up to them, surely? just because their husband's are millionaires, it doesn't mean they have to pander to their every whim. dean windass's wife is a policewoman (i appreciate he's not exactly in steve gerrard's earning league) so there is no reason AC can't get a job if she's so bored and lonely.

as for their lonely life...i think i'll save my sympathy for lonely wives of servicemen. on a millionth of the income. ?

Of course there are exceptions and there are also the type of WAG's who only marry the man because they are footballers. I would say though that a vast majority have been together since 16 or 18 as the players are encouraged to have girlfriends to keep them on the straight and narrow. So a lot of the time why haven't had careers before hand. I did quite a lot of work with WAG's a year or so ago and out of the 10 I spent time with, one had a career and one was studying for a degree. All of them had children and had, had the children pretty young so they were SAHM's, the only difference being that they were SAHM's with shed loads of cash. In most of the cases, the husbands encouraged this as they wanted their children cared for by the Mom's are not a nanny or creche, which I think is far enough really if they wives are happy with that.

I did say that I don't pity them, or have sympathy for them but I do think it's a lifestyle choice and just because they are loaded doesn't mean they don't suffer they same stuff we all do. I really don't think money is everything when it comes to happiness and you can still be lonely dropping £10k on clothes each week.

ETA - As for sticking up to their husbands, I would say that there is a "type" and generally they are not outspoken, feisty women. There's no way someone like me would make a good WAG ?

I've just thought of another thing as well (I need to let it go). If she's that bored and getting in her car to drive to McDonalds to get a burger why doesn't she spend that time in the kitchen cooking herself and her children nutritious food. Or she can't cook, learn!! Stupid bint.
