All inclusive holidays.....

pink & glitz, 21 May, 2015 at 12:31 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 21

We are off on our honeymoon to Jamaica next month for 2 weeks and its all inclusive.

So how much money do we take???

We have researched the area and there is only 1 trip to the falls that we can see so far. We have never gone all inclusive before.

Thanks ladies x

We went on an all inclusive to spain, thinking it would be a cheap break. It wasn't! The food in the hotel was awful so we ended up going out to eat a lot, the drinks were alright but not great so we went out a few times. We brought back souvinirs and got ourselves a few things. We took 300 euros and ended up spending more like 500!

Oh I love all inclusive!! I usually only take about £100 per week on an all inc holiday. If there are certain trips I want to do and know the rough cost then I take a bit extra. But you don't need much all inc.

We've only ever spent a couple of hundred when we've been all inclusive, just on a couple of trips and on gifts for family/duty free. I'm sure you have already, but just double check that certain things aren't excluded - specific alcoholic drinks or the 'posher' restaurants, which may be chargeable. Enjoy the honeymoon, Jamaica is on our shortlist, which hotel have you chosen?

Wow, Jamaica! I hope you have a lovely time!

I went all-inclusive to St Lucia last year and spent ~£400 while there. I had a full body massage at the spa, a zip-line tour through the jungle, a 'safari jeep' tour around the island and then got some gifts to take home. Also gave tips to some of the staff. Bear in mind if you're staying on a resort, everything other than the food and drink tends to be chargeable.

Another thing to check is currency. I took bundles of East Caribbean Dollars because that's the official currency there, yet the resort only dealt with American Dollars. It was all for nothing anyway, because nowhere on resort accepted cash, so we had to use our credit card!

We always spend money on AI's; like others have said, trips, meals out, nights out, spas, souvenirs ... depends where you are going and what's around you. Some resorts I've heard (Caribbean?) recommend you don't leave the resort for safety, in which case you're not going to get a chance to spend much.

We went to a particularly cheap nasty place a few years back in Tunisia, last minute deal - we ate out every night as the hotel was vile and drinks watered down (and lots of people there had bad tummies too) but there was a couple there who bragged a lot about having only spent £15 between the two of them in a week.

We absolutely love all inclusive, so much so that we've converted my parents to them now too! You'll want trip money, if you're likely to want to go to any a la carte restaurants they'll be extra, souvenir money, if you have a taste for a particular drink e.g barcardi rather than generic rum they'll charge for that, any spa stuff and activities like para sailing etc. To be honest we don't spend a lot extra, providing you went for a hotel that gets good food reviews (as I'm sure you did, it's your honeymoon!) then you should spend very little.

Our Sicily holiday this year is all inclusive. Husband had never been on one before he met me and really disliked them. He now requests them! Chocolate ice cream on tap converted him!

We will probably take £450 between us for one week as we might want to go on a couple of trips.

Hahaha I'm guilty of doing that sw. Surprised you didn't like Tunisia I've been about 11 times admit that you do have to be hotel selective and 4 star there is really imo 3 star everywhere else. I admit the food is often not awesome but I've never been without a decent meal. What hotel did you stop in? I do find it a challenge there to not spend much as I always go all Inc and everything out of the hotel is so cheap too.

I've been a few places all inclusive and I can't imagine I would pick to go on a beach holiday anything but all inclusive I love the feeling of everything being provided and not having to think about money while I'm there lol

I spent less than a tenner in Tunisia once haha

What hotel did you stop at and where sw?

I'm also a huge fan of Tunisia, been probably around the same amount of times.. but yeah, you do have to find the right hotel.. i have tried a couple when my usual hotel was fully booked, but the standard was pants and did end up spending more money because of eating out etc too ...

I stay in a hotel called Les Orangers in Hammamet, 100% 24 hour all inclusive, even down to free massages and a la carte Smiley smile

That's in yasmin hammamet if I'm not mistaken? We got free spa in mouradi palace in Port at kantoui. Have you ever been to the ice cream place in Port Al kantoui which is based on a old plane all the seats etc? Last time I went they even had pilot uniforms on!

we chose the Riu Palace in Montego Bay. Booked it through Thomson Holidays. Thanks for your advice ladies, I don't think we will venture out of the resort a lot as I have heard it's not that safe, only found this out when we were telling people that we were going there. :\. The meals / drinks are all in and going on the reviews we don't need to pay any additional costs x

Hi MrsShep yeah we chose it because of the variety of restaurant's too, it's a once in a lifetime holiday and we were very lucky as half of it has been paid through money / holiday vouchers.

Anyway I have flashed my holiday - anyone else??????? X

Djerba does sound really nice the only fly from Manchester I think though :-( one of reasons i love Tunisia to be honest is the flight time your landing almost as soon as you get up there it was really embarrassing when one of the passport control men noticed me from the last time he stamped my passport

We loved Tunisia when we went too. We stayed at the Riu Imperial Marhaba, so good we suggested it to my parents and that's where they went last year, they've booked somewhere in Tunisia again this year!

Our honeymoon hotel was amazing! Reef oasis blue bay resort and spa in Sharm El Sheikh.

Manchester is my local airport so not too bad for me.

Haha they have insane memories over there... at what point i was part of the furniture so to be expected but in my early visits i was shocked how many people remembered us. I work in a airport and i genuinely wouldn't know if i saw the same passenger twice in same day never mind a year or 2 later lol

We'd never want to go to work if it looked like that outside though! Very jealous, our honeymoon was one of our favourite two weeks in our whole life! We're not going away this year to save up so i'm extra jealous!
