all paid up! And when to change things....

chicken82, 29 January, 2009 at 14:19 Posted on Planning 0 6

Ive been in and paid all the fees for the actual ceremony today - im a further £270 lighter, yet have nothing to show for it.....yet.

Anyway, i also got the registra to fill out a form for me to get a new passport. Unfortunatly i have changed significantly enough to warrant getting new pics....

I was wondering, how long before the wedding have you started informing companies of your name change?

Is there a comprehensive list anywhere of companies that need to be informed?

Chicken, most places will want a copy of the wedding certificate to change yor name, so best wait until you are married for it. I just got my new passport last week, yay!! Still got driving liscence to go, and we were married in August.

Also bear in mind to change the name of your vehicle registration certificate (V5) with the DVLA/DVLNI, if you own a car.

Another I've thought of, your European Health Insurance Card (if you have one).

Chicken - A note about passports, when you say you've changed from you're last one, what are the changes?? I'm not being nosey honest, but I work in the passport office. Every application must include 2 new passport photo's taken on a cream or grey back ground. Depending on the changes you may need to have the application form countersigned.

I need to have the new pics because i was only 16 when i had my last lot done, and 10 years and 2 kids have deffinatly made me look different!

Other than that, i phoned to check that i didnt need to send my birth certificate, and was told no. Im just renewing my passport which ran out last year, but with my married name. they explained it wouldnt be valid until the actual day of the wedding, and i have had the registra fill out a form to say the marriage is happening.

Is that what you mean by changes?
