*alternative* type music to walk up the aisle

Stupidgirl45, 13 May, 2009 at 19:12 Posted on Planning 0 21

Yes, unoriginal thread and one I KNOW i've posted - but back in like, september. And I still can't decide what to walk up the aisle to.

I thought I'd found it - Keane's cover of With or Without You but SB has veto'd it grrr

So other possibles are:

Dear Lover - Foos

Moon River - Frank Sinatra

Starlight - Muse.....

Anything else? Any ideas?

    I would love either....

Elbow - Newborn, from the album "Asleep in the back"

    or..

    Sigur Ros - Untitled 3, from the album " () "

Don't mock me or roll your eyes too much but I walked up the aisle to

"Bring Me Sunshine" - as in Morecambe & Wise but sung by Willy Nelson

Held fond memories for my Dad and I (no we didn't do the dance!) from growing up.

Might sound daft but if you look at the words it's really rather nice and broke the tension for all the guests and my H2B!

Am having Sea of Love by Cat Power - don't think it is that 'alternative' but not many people know it

I think I'll be going down to Dohery and Wolfman - for lovers but this is probably likely to change 10 times over before the wedding

Hi, I'm a bit new here and have a while to wait before my wedding (haven't even been engaged a week yet, and it'll be in July 2011) but I'm considering going down the aisle to this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxY0ALI7izo

It got used as the theme tune to this programme, which was the only way I could find it on youtube, but it's about the right length and is so lovely when it swells. I'm pretty sure not many people will ever have heard it before either, which is a bonus!

Let me know what you think?

    Kitty

    Wow, love this! So beautiful.

Ooh la la, I knew there was a good reason I was stalking you. I ❤️ Newborn.

SG45, I suggested Dear Lover to Count Duckula as a first dance the other day. Also loving Starlight.

Have you thought about something by Air or Sigur Ros, pretty alternative but beautiful and emotive stuff. Maybe:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ulxUG8w2VU (would need editing timewise but beautiful).

Can't believe I would forget this as a suggestion, but this could also be tear-inducingly sweet - it's 'First Day of My Life' by Bright Eyes:

I think Moon River could be a great choice, but the other two are very different and pretty cool.

If you haven't already, check out this page: Wedding Ceremony Music Suggestions.

    Hope that helps

Moon River is very popular - I've played it three times this month! A few of the most recent requests are at https://www.celebratewithmusic.co.uk/repertoire.html.

Einaudi's music is very popular too.

I did but I listen to it all the time without him! I particularly love it when I'm feeling poorly, very soothing.

Ahh, I'll have to get a copy then.

BTW - I don't want to crash SG's thread too much, but what sort of music do you play when you DJ?

Thanks for all your lovely replies - it has been nice to llisten to them all. My favourite odd one - that no one has suggested is All is full of Love - bjork but SB also vetoed this so....

Am either having string quarter tribute's version of Chasing Cars (although am loving Come as you are by them too!)

or f*ck it, will bloody have the real version of Sweet Child of Mine and sod everyone else.
