Calmmmmmmmmm.. people do things at different rates. if they have the time and money to do stuff they will but I dont think its always a wise thing to do...you got loads of time so chill out. You got 3 important things done now look at the rest...

flowers, transport, entertainment... book the solid things first then 'worry' about the frills at a time that suits you!

I think, don't panic! I am August 2010 and we have the reception and photographer booked. I also have ordered my dress, but there are certain reasons for that rather than being super organised.

Aye i know, you make total sense but i just got a bit scared reading that yesterday!!! I told my H2B and he was like "you're NOT behind, you're fine woman"!!!!!! i'm sure i'm stressing him out since we got engaged (and it's only the early days now!!!!!!!!)

the reason i've not done more is coz of money, we want to buy a house nxt yr so i'm saving for that now too, and getting braces in jan (eeeek!!) so money, money, money as abba once said!!!!!!

what do you think about artificial flower?? loadsa people talk about them and i'm intrigued!! Know of any good websites i can have a look at???

Ok i feel a bit better now then, thanks!!!

the next thing i wanna sort is the cars i think. i keep thinking its too early to sort everything but after reading that yesterday, i'm now thinking its not too early at all!!!

another question - how do i get my daisypath thing at the bottom of my post????

Take a deep breath and step away from the planning. I'm getting married in 5 months and not got stationery yet either (although it is in hand).

I personally think making stationery 18 months + is crazy because it is then just going to sit in a box and you will quite possibly change your mind. I've changed my mind several times since getting engaged.

My pal didn't get her shoes and tiara until 2 months before her wedding so there are no hard and fast rules when things need done.

    Calm yourself ?

We're getting wed in 4 1/2 months and we haven't done the stationary yet (or the flowers, cake, favours - (insertpanicbuttonhere)

You have plenty of time and have sorted the main things ! I always get stressed when the folks on here post what they've done as I always seem miles behind but you will get everything sorted that you need to

    xx

You are fine, you have got plenty of time to sort all the little things out, I am getting close to under 3 months and I have only just sorted my dress, bridesmaid dress, shoes etc. Not going to look into tiara's, jewlerley, FG dress until january time.

As everyone else says there is plenty of time. God 2010 is ages away!! I think the stress is totally unnecessary - and as PG says you may change your mind about things anyway, I know I have. Chill out and enjoy it - don't worry about what everyone else is doing.

As long as you have the major things booked ie. Venue, Transport, Flowers, Photographer etc as these tend to get booked up to 2yrs in advance, then everything else can be sorted after.

You can also spread the cost by buyings things bit by bit as & when you have spare cash. Look out for bargains in the January sales for things like decoration, shoes etc.

Sorry, but the fact that you're not getting married for another 19 months just made me smirk a bit... a lot can happen in nearly 2 years...sorry to sound harsh but I think you're 'over-panicing'.

Is it just me that feels like it's a bit OTT?

I do think that is a bit harsh actually... it's only natural for every bride to be to feel excited and to want to get on with the planning process and also very natural once you start looking at what is needed and realising that there is so much to be done and that people do book things quite far in advance, to feel overwhelmed and she has every right to ask the forum if she is on track or not.

What is OTT about that? Surely every bride feels excited and overwhelmed and needs reassurance that what they are doing is ok? I thought that was the point of a wedding planning forum, is it not?

2010 really isnt that far away and if suppliers/vendors are taking bookings for that time now, it only proves that she is right to start planning so i dont think it's fair to "smirk" at people who have simply asked for some guidance.

You'll be fine. We got engaged Oct 07 and married Oct 08...that's less time than you've still got left. Even in 12 months we had lots of time where there was nothing for us to do towards the wedding...don't rush things, you have plenty of time.

Im getting married April 2010 and so far we have both ceremony and reception venue booked. photographer and dj as well. Everything is dependant on budget as to what we have and how much we spend etc. We decided what was important and have booked those first x

I'll just echo what the others have said. Calm down. I'm a planner and for my 2010 weddings we've booked the venues and are in the process in the new year to sort the photographers and entertainment. I'm concentrating on getting the themes and designs right at the moment, researching suppliers and ideas and then in a few months time, when my clients have confirmed their choices, that's when I'll start contacting people, just to get quotes. I'll use their quotes to play off each other to get the best price, this is itself can take time. There is no reason to be doing stationery and things like that now, you will no doubt change your mind and also, you;ll have wedding burnout, you'll be so fed up with the wedding if you do too much too soon. Take it a slower pace, prioritise what needs to be done, give yourself a time planner and you will see that you have plenty of time. Don't forget to take advantage of the this coming and the NEXT january sales!

    Enjoy it!

    Ruth

i don't think tahdah was being overly harsh - sometimes people need a bit of a reality check before they turn into a bridezilla (if they haven't already done so) - she still has 19 months to plan an entire wedding!

    I completely agree!

I'm getting married in September 2010 and only just booked the venue yesterday, going to book the band and photographer in the new year probably. So don't panic, you seem pretty well organised I'd say! Where are you getting married? ?

Thanks to everyone's who's replied. Some comments have made me feel better, and much calmer now that I know that I'm on track with the planning.

with regards to the comments about me being OTT/Bridezilla and whatever the other comments were, all i want to say is, (like i mentioned in my post) i'm new to this and not really sure what to do/what not to do yet, etc so all i wanted was some guidance from more experienced people, i definitely got that, but i don't think it was needed to make out that i'm being over-dramatic or OTT!!! For crying out loud, this is the biggest most important day of a bride's life, so of course she wants to discuss it with others in the same situation and "compare notes".

anyway, merry christmas everyone, have a lovely time!!

    x?

And comments like that on someone's early posts could really put them off posting here again! I really hope it doesn't put you off MrsRob2be! ?

I have to agree that some of the posts were a little harsh, if anyone can be accused of being OTT or Bridezilla then it's more likely to be the one who has done everything already, and then you can't really blame her for being excited.
