*libby*, 19 February, 2011 at 13:13 Posted on Planning 0 6

This is my cake, i have been quoted up to £550 fro it but have managed to find £235, with silk flowers as she wont do real.

Is this a good deal, should i stop at this as ive tried her cake and its nice or keep looking? Apparently its a pretty easy cake to make!

Sorry it may be that my head isnt working today but is she charging you £550 or have you managed to get her down to £235? If its £235 Id say a good deal - if its the £550 Id say that was quite expensive - again tho depends on the area your in obv London and the South tends to be more expensive than in the North - put a shout out to Jules a HIB on here I know she does cakes

    ?

I think thats a good price, I don't think you'd find much cheaper as the supermarket ones start at £199. I've not been quoted any less than £350.

Sorry! I found one Bakery that wanted £550, a woman who just makes cakes (advertising herself but no shop) wanted £195 but no flowers inc, but she vanished so I gave up, then a different bakery said £235 with silk flowers. My sister had some money saved up and said she will buy the cake to help us out but she bought a house last week and is now as skint as the rest of us! She said she will still buy it but I just wondered if i could find it any cheaper as I now feel a bit bad! Ive called for jules too, thank you!

Can't you buy three seperate tiers from M&S and get somone to decorate it for you? Works out to about £100 for the 3.

Thanks for that, i think i will stick with it then. It will feed 100.

She does edible flowers too which we saw and were lovely but she said they will cost more as obviously they take a longer time to make or we can have silk flowers, paper flowers or get our florist to do them. We live in Surrey but get married in Bournemouth and we are using a local florist and picking them up to take with us so dont want to have to decorate the cake myself if that makes sense?

    Thanks again.
