Not at all hun! I'm not getting married until August next year, and I have already done my invites, table centrepieces, corsages, buttonholes, started the favours and got the patterns for the bm dresses and waistcoats for the boys! I have only got the one child so I am really prepared. At least this way we won't be panicking about not having enough time to get it all done and we can chill out (or try at least) the last few weeks before the wedding! xx

I don't think you're mad at all, I would and am trying to get things sorted now and my wedding isn't until August next year, I want all the invitations and stationary ordered by the end of this month, if i was making it myself (unfortunately I don't have an artistic bone in my body) then I would be making them all now.

Just to add, we only have 2 little ones, the other 2, my step kids are adults themselves. I don't think any time is too early ?

I get married next August and short of saving to pay the balances of things like the venue etc, and the kids outfits we are done! (apart from invites too)

I have kids too and with xmas in the middle, things need to be brought/done when i have the money/time/energy

I get married in August too and believe me, if I could get any sense of urgency into my OH we would have a lot more done by now! We've got all the big things booked but I want to start on the details, especially as we are making our own stationary. He still sees it as ages away but I am working on him! I'm a secondary school teacher and I know from March onwards I am up to my neck in moderating coursework, doing after school revision classes, calming panicking students etc (not as hectic as having children of your own, I know) so I am conscious that I will run out of time and energy if we don't start soon! In my eyes, the more you can get done in advance, the less stressed you will be closer to the time and that can only be a good thing. You're definitely not mad!

I don't think you are, I'm July next year too and it really isin't all that long in wedding terms, especially with having lots of other committments I'd be carrying on as you are

My only reservation would be how sure you are that you have your colourscheme right - there's no point in buying everything in hot pink now if you decide in a couple of months when you've looked at bridesmaids dresses, for example, that actually you prefer lime green.

Unless of course you're going for a retro eighties themed wedding, then you could probably get away with both... but I'm sure you know what I mean Smiley smile

We did a lot of early planning but most of that consisted of scouring Ebay and googling stuff, bookmarking things that we thought we could/would use, and then as our plans developed we bought some things when we knew they were definitely in our plans, others we discarded. But the shopping is half the fun Smiley smile

Aww thanks guys feelin better now hearing i am not the only one who is getting so sorted already !! and my colour scheme took ages to get my oh to help pick !! and believe me if he changed his mind now i would go mad but i dont think that will be happening lol we have chosen our beloved football teams colours as our colour scheme.

so far i have managed to make our save the date cards which are in the process of handing out and i have made our invites and were currently writing letters to go with our invites for an alternative gift, as were raising money for charity insted of having wedding presents and i currently slowly but surely getting through making order of services.

One tip I was given which is coming up trumps for getting stuff organised is to have a couple of boxes (one for each member of the bridal party and maybe one for the venue) and then as you buy bits for the party/venue you can pop stuff in the box and then hand it over on the day/night before.

Also for the venue (if you are dressing it yourself) have one box per table and that way you can take it to the venue and unpack it (or delegate it to someone else to unpack). If you are delegating, do a mock-up and take some pictures so people know what you expect it to look like and pop it in the box.

I can completely understand that me and my OH are still not offically engaged, I haven't met his family, and his family don't even know we are getting married and all the book of things are organised I have my dress and I have posted the first round of STDs.

I have started early as in the next month or so I am moving 120 miles away from where the wedding is taking place and I'm applying for uni.

Jen, I have totally the same situation with my OH we getting married next aug and i cant seem to get him to sort anything. He's someone that leaves everything to the last min and i am totally the opposite. I like to get things sorted. I cant even get him to sit down and do his side of the guest list. its starting to really frustrate me. I have my dress sorted and going shopping with the girls on bank hol to sort them. my mum is like me and is sorted from head to toe. I dont kno what i can do to get him organised.
