Am I odd not having a hen...

I love shoes, 14 June, 2008 at 20:56 Posted on Planning 0 16

It was supposed to be either tonight or next saturday but none of my friends either could make it or bothered to reply to the email about it - it was going to end up being me, my mum, two of my aunts, my CBM and my boss. SO not my idea of a night out...

So I moved it to the 5th July, again either no responses or no's as no one could make it

My CBM is coming down the 5th July anyway as I have my dress fitting and also my mum and dad are coming down as its my brithday on the monday so am thinking of just going out with my CBM, mum, dad and maybe my aunt if she can get her coursework finished in time...

So I technically wont be having a hen night - am I odd or in fact quite sensible??

I would be quite happy to avoid a hen night but only cos I just don't want to go out pubbing and clubbing and I think this is what people would organise for me.

That's pretty crap that your friends haven't got back to you but I'm sure you will have a lovely night with your family.

Not odd at all! A typical "hen night" is my idea of hell! I instead went out for a very nice meal with about 15 friends and to a quiet bar afterwards for a chat and a couple of drinks! I arrived home very sober having spent a nice civilised evening with good friends!

Not odd at all. I didnt want the whole normal hen do so my friend and I went out for a very civilised champagne lunch, checked into my reception hotel and then had a lovely meal. Was nice and not a typical hen do.

Not at all. I opted for a nice holiday with 4 of my closest friends - we hired a villa in the same Spanish village where my brother lives, and it was all very civilised. a LOT of fun but not a 'hen' thing at all. My Dad, his wife and my Mum were all there for the first week!

When I see hordes of half dressed wimmen parading around Edinburgh on a proper tacky 'hen night' it just makes me shudder!

Not at all! I chose not to have a hen do. Didn't regret that decision in the least.

I didnt have one, and H didnt have a stag do either, we were living too far from all our friends and couldnt afford it all the spare cash was going on the wedding as H had been made redundant just before hand. I really wouldnt worry about it.

I am learning - slowly but surely - that you should do what makes YOU happy! Nothin odd in wanting to have a nice time whatever that involves!

Enjoy whatever you do hun x

I didn't want one but one of my friends has organised me and tasteful one in four weeks time.

Quite looking forward to it now - I've said that there can be no games involved.

we didn't want a hen, stag or 'hag do' but my lovely work colleagues organised a night out (which I will always count as my hen night) so it was out of my hands in the end.

no-one will think it odd, I don't think. It IS difficult to get people together sometimes and no-one should feel they should HAVE to have one.

    Definitely not odd...

What matters is that your happy - im sure you will have a great time with the family.

I'm not having one, typical hen = hell to me...

Might have a spa day with a couple of pals but thats enough..

If I was going to have one, it wouldnt have been a typical hen, it would have only been dinner and a few drinks or a lunch in a hotel, it just would have been nice to have some of my friends there, but I do appreciate with the costs of getting to the wedding, the cost of something like that as they live a fair distance away from me would be prohibitive

Oh well, just means I can have a virtual one on here !!!???️️

I don't fancy the idea of a hen night either. If I can actually afford to do anything once the wedding's paid for I'll just go for a nice meal with my mum and a few friends or possibly a spa weekend with 2 or 3 friends. The idea of going out in fancy dress having to do "funny" tasks fills me with dread!
