I've only bought them at wedding fairs when they are on offer - for example at the National Wedding Show in October I got 2 magazines (normally £3ish each) and a £10 nail varnish for £4.

    No, you're not odd.

Seeing as most of what I want wouldn't be covered in an average bridal magazine I refuse to spend money on a glossy mag I won't use. Internet is far more flexible and useful. Gotta love the wibbly wobbly web!

Vikster you have done the right thing! I think I spent about £50-60 on wedding magazines and each one pretty much has the same thing inside. (Although I loved poring through them.)

We've only picked up the catalogues given at wedding fairs, rather than buying wedding magazines.

Pretty sure we can find everything we need either through here, or by using Google. If it's that obscure or difficult to locate that either of these don't work, we probably don't need it.

When we first got engaged I practically ran to WH Smith and bought three, then realised that they were all just basically adverts ? I never bought any again after that.

I used to buy loads but most of them are just stacked full of ads now. I do most of my research online.

This is really interesting from a supplier's perspective actually!

I have spent a fortune advertising in the glossies over the years, and I have become more convinced that the web is definately more used by brides than hours reading ads in mags. On the other side, if I don't advertise, I notice that my enquiries drop - so I guess there has to be a middle ground somewhere! Obviosuly the key with the web and search engines is making sure that your website is easily found, and when it is found, that it is attractive!

Hmm. I shall see what everyeon else has to say about this - it's interesting! (clearly I need to get out more!) ?

I bought them all practically every release from when I got engaged upto about 3 months ago.. stopped!

should have stopped sooner to be honest, completely full of adverts, and the dresses are the same and everything else in there is either samey or stuff I wouldnt ever consider.

    did like pouring over them.

but definately stopped and think the net and Hitched are better, get more inspiration from here really.

Wished I'd stopped sooner, and saved some money .. ah well

I would guess that the majority of people getting married these days are most definitely internet connected and internet savvy, so for me a good website with plenty of pictures, clear pricing if applicable and lots of other relevant information would be far more useful than a glossy advert in a magazine amongst 20 others.

I would much rather go to google and type "wedding dress surrey", "bus hire portsmouth" or "hunter green table gemstones" or whatever and see what came up to get my results much quicker - and cheaper - than skimming through a magazine.

A friend of mine got married last May so when we got engaged she off loaded her stash of magazines on me. I did buy a couple when we first got engaged (because I could!) and I went through them to cut dresses etc out that I liked to stick on my mood board. I havent bought one in months and see no reason to, simply because they are all the same! There are many more ideas on the internet.

I've bought a few to put ideas into my scrapbook. I noticed when i bought my last ones that I've barely cut anything out, so maybe now I've got a fixed idea in my head they're not so useful

My mum bought me some at the start but I never even enjoyed looking at them. I just don't see the point in them when everything is on the internet for free. I've never advertised in them and have no need at all as I'm fully booked as it is so even from a suppliers point of view I don't see the value in them.

It's not odd at all, I have only bought one magazine, and that was because my train was delayed.....

I didn;t find it very useful, like all the other hitchers I found it had mainly adverts

Googling images is what I llike best then when I see something I like I try and find where I can get it and if it's in budget.

The ones we get over here are full of the most hideous make up and big (we're talking double decker size) big fluffy dresses so I'll only get one if someones going back to the UK and brings me one back. Have seen a couple of good ideas but just find everything in them soooooo expensive. Virtually everything I've planned so far has been done through the web.

I don't buy them either because personally I think they are a waste of money. I have a huge pile that my sil gave me and I don't think there's that much in them. I much rather going through the internet looking for ideas and what I want. x

I became a bit obsessed with buying them tbh lol, i have loooooads hanging around the house and i actually found them useful, i cut loads of pics out of stuff i liked and stuck it all in a scrapbook. I found a few of my suppliers and accessories through them too.

If anyone wants my collection of them you are more than welcome to them if you want to pick them up - in Southend, Essex xxx
