Am I too organised?

TracieGtobe, 10 August, 2011 at 12:59 Posted on Planning 0 16

We are getting married 4th August next year and am on a very tight budget so having to save hard, and get things whilst we have the money.

Everyone keeps commenting on how i am doing everything very early - am i too organised? it is less than a year away and mid season too?

Venue booked - deposit paid

ceremony being sorted (humanist cermony with legal bit done day before)

my dress - purchased (was less than a quarter of the price so had to be done!!)

waistcoats for men purchased (suits will be got later)

Flowers purchased (got a special deal on artificial flowers which i couldnt refuse! £55 for all bouquets, button holes, corsages lol)

Photographer booked (friend of mine who is pro, so needed to book in his diary)

Invitations being designed (am a crafter by trade so will be making my own)

Am i too organised? or do you think I a doing ok? Some things have to wait for example my childrens outfits, rings etc.

    I don't think so!

We're June 2012 and got the following:

    • Venue booked & deposit paid
    • Ceremony sorted (also humanist but with legal bit 30 minutes before!!)
    • Dress - know what I want but waiting for them to put it on offer at NEC show in October
    • Musician booked
    • Florist booked & flowers pretty much decided on
    • Photographer booked
    • Know what invitations I want but need to confirm details with venue before printing
    • Save the dates sent
    • Bought my ring (before prices go up)

I'd rather be too organised then getting stressed for being far behind!

Not at all. I'd done most of that by September last year for next July.

These people generally have no idea about organising weddings and how quickly things get booked up. Tis very annoying.

I don't think that you can be too organised, , unless you are like me and often change my mind, , , ?

Nothing wrong with being organised and prepared when it comes to planning your wedding, theres is so many things to look into, make decisions on and do that it has to be done in advance if you want to keep some of your sanity lol

    Date twin for me too!

By August last year, so two years in advance, we'd booked:

    church

    reception venue

    photographer

    musicians

    transport

    florist

    stationer

If it's available and you're sure you want it, what possible harm is there in booking things early?

Thanks guys, and hi to my date twins!

People are driving me mad saying how bizarre it is that I am already buying stuff - but i figure if i got the money now and see it, and am sure then why not??!!

Although these are probably the same people who would complain i was being too laid back if i wasnt lol

    Hi Tracey

Just tried to quote this but I don't think it has worked

Hope you don't mind me asking.... where are you getting the flowers from. I was thinking of having artificial (so we can keep them) and am on a rather tight budget so this price sounds great!!! Also don't want to spend a fortune as I am not that keen on flowers any way!!!!

Its great that your so organised too, at least you won't be rushing everything at the last minute

    Hi Future Mrs W,

I got the flowers from a lady on ebay .. turns out she lives about 10 mins from my house so worked out perfectly as I saved on postage too.

I ordered a cheap bridesmaid bouquet via ebay so that I could look at it for a few days and decide if i liked the artificial look.

But it was that beautiful that straight away i decided to order MY flowers. I havent got a pic of my flowers as I have packed them away but I ordered a bridal bouquet (with diamontes etc), a bridesmaid bouquet the same, a grooms button hole, 2 normal button holes and 2 corsages - all in ivory and silver and they are gorgeous.

these pictures are of the sample bridesmaid sized one I purchased from her ....

This is her ebay shop - she is lovely and so helpful when you contact her.

    http://shop.ebay.co.uk/suesflowers/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

    Hope this helps

Not at all! I get the same from my mum and gran...our wedding is in May! I think years ago, you planned it all in a matter of months but it doesn't work that way anymore. Good suppliers, venues, caterers, etc get booked up early so you need to move quick! We went to a wedding fayre back in February and spoke to a TOG who was already booked up for our day - 15 months in advance...I think organised is the new black!
