Am I way behind with my planning??

nearlysummer, 1 July, 2009 at 16:33 Posted on Planning 0 11

HI I was so excited when we got engaged and booked our venue, church and photographer. I'm not getting married until aug 2010 but recently I have spoken to loads of people that are getting married that summer and they all seem to have booked everything. I can't believe it , I'm a really organized person but I feel so behind now, the problem is I hate making final decisions. I booked the photographer because they all seemed to be booking up well in advance but now true to form I've found another one and can't decide whether to lose my £300 deposit. I really struggle to make a decision in case I see something else so I don't know what to do.

I wouldn't worry. I am also August next yr, and have booked quite a bit, and have also spent the last 6 months doing nothing. All I keep thinking is that there will still be more people getting engaged from now till the end of the year and planning for summer 2010. I would concentrate on booking suppliers that only do one wedding per day, i.e florist, dj etc.

Hi We booked our wedding with 18months planning time and it has just flown by (getting married this October) its not too early to start booking things beacuse August can be a busy month so things will get booked up, As long as you start thinkingabout the main things getting sorted like your Venue, photos , cars, cake and Dj you will be fine.

Well I have also got a friend doing the cake and invites and have a friend getting the flowers wholesale. I suppose I just don't feel that they're booked because I haven't really picked anything just know that they'll do it for me. We aren't having cars but I need a marquee, caterer, dress, suits, BM dresses probably a million other things i've forgotten. I'm not used to being behind the game ?

I wouldn't panic. We set the date end of September 2008, and the big day was April 4th 2009, and we had loads of time. Once we'd booked the main things (venue, florist, photographer, dj) we had a few months of doing nothing, and then it just all came together in the last few months.

I honestly think you have nothing to worry about, I'm getting married in Sept 2010 and I have only booked the venue, entertainment, and photographer. Things have really started slowing down now but that's normal. I will be doing more things towards the end of the year. You are definately not behind. x

Thanks its just really hard not to panic when so many friends keep asking what I've booked and hten telling me they have booked everything. I'm used to being the OCD one but really don't want to rush in to a wrong decision.

If you are beind then so am I! Our wedding is July 2010 and all we've done since booking the church and reception venue is agree to have the dj recommended by the venue and pay for that! I don't think there's much that really needs doing way in advance, but I really should get on to sorting a photographer. I am also normally ridiculously organised, but I don't want to do it all and then have to just sit and wait, plus I'm a teacher so planning to do a lot over the summer hols when I've got time. It helps that one of my friends is getting married this dec and has only just started booking things really, so I don't feel in any rush!

your well ahead if uve got cake person booked, know your getting flowers wholesale and booked tog, venue and church ! dont panic !!

ive got loads still to do but I would rather that than have everything done too early and change my mind !

    Hi Nearly Summer

I would worry....... im getting married July 2010 and although we have booked the venue, registra, and ive sent STD cards I have only booked the photographer as to me its one of the most important things at our wedding and we fell into booking the florist as i just sent an email asking for a price list and she already had a wedding booked for that weekend and would only take one more booking as she is local my OH gets all my flowers from their so i just went with it.

In terms of stuff left to book and sort ive got DJ, Dress, Cake, Honeymoon, Rings, Bridesmaid Dresses, Favours, Invitations, stationary , Grooms / Ushers, Favours etc so still quite alot i think im going to tackle one job a month as at some point between now and wedding we shall ineveitably be moving house as well to add to the stress!!

Good luck and happy planning ......!!!

    K X
