'An incurable form of athritis'

Mrs Magic, 17 October, 2008 at 10:59 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

Apparently that's what Lupus is, according to BBC3.

Yes it's closely related to athritis but it's also so much more. It drives me mad when statements like this are made, it just perpetuates the already poor education on the disease.

Grrr.

They have obviously never watched House. ?

Can't believe they said that, it's so wholely inaccurate, don't they have researchers for that kind of thing? Yes it's auto-immune, but the effects are so much more far-reaching.

    Grrrr too.

And yes, if they had ever watched House, they would know that virtually anything could be lupus (although on House it never is). I was once observing a hospital MDT meeting and one of the consultants uttered the immortal 'it could be lupus'. I felt like I was actually in House!

Sorry but I have to disagree strongly.

As we all know in House, sarcoidosis is always suggested as the cause of any illness ?

It must be so frustrating for you Mrs M when it's grossly oversimplified like that. You should direct them to some correct information.

<aside- I saw your facebook msg but can only get fb on blackberry at the mo, and mine is in getting fixed. will respond later, but in short, yes yes yes!! xxx>

That's so bad that they were so far off the mark.

Oh and talking of House, I nearly spat out my drink when I saw the mention of sarcoidosis!

I think I will write in, even if it's just so they know if it's mentioned in future programmes.

    Yay Lou! ?
